Still bright purple right to the edge where you can imagine there are a few microns of amber. dark fruits blackberries, blueberries, and something close to tinned cranberries. Much the same on the palate. Huge fruit but balanced by adequate acidity. Could be a touch more complex. Finish of 30 to 45 seconds. Very nice example of a CA CS from BTK.

This wine has aged in a surprising way. It started off muted and now has a better, balanced profile. Blueberry compote on the nose. Time notes of dark cherry and chocolate with some cedar and allspice on the way out. I did not expect this wine to improve and I was pleasantly surprised....

Very disappointed!! Similar to other notes the wine is completely disconnected. It smells to a Kalon but when u sip it everything just goes away and all u can get is jammy juice. No complexity, no minerality, just over extracted grape juice.

Opened in the bottle for 3 hours plus. Don’t get the muted elements as to me this was overblown and clumsy. Essentially syrups and liqueurs blended together without much palate depth. The structure is here and acid is present but not sure how it will improve with that sticky of a flavor profile. I enjoyed drinking this purely because I was not the one who paid for it. Night and day here with the delicious Dr. Crane.

I really hope this is an off bottle, although nothing on the nose or pallet really seems that way. I can't quite understand how it's possible to have this wine rated 100 by JD and 98 by LPB. It's thin, the acid is biting, the depth is non-existent and the finish is light and almost watered down. I popped this before dinner out to decant it and took a small sip; after which I immediately pulled out another bottle. What's interesting is when I poured it in the decanted, it had all those amazing To Kalon aromas, but as soon as it made it into my glass those went away and it turned into a total mess. Hoping it was bad. Ugh...

muted fruit with good earth and wood notes, but not up to the level of the other two Debate wines.
