  • Perhaps in a slightly shut-down phase at first compared to earlier bottles I've had, but still an attractive wine. Good Mourvèdre dark, earthy, animal fruit, somewhat tannic at first still, but on the whole quite drinkable, especially with food. With further airing, the wine opens and is wonderfully light on the palate with dark Mourvèdre fruits and a sensuous texture. Purchased at the estate in 2018 or 2019.

  • fully ripe with hints of torrefaction. yet this wine never falls out of bounds for me, though it toes the line. displays dense raspberry fruit with a mouthfeel more reminiscent of a good Burgundy than anything I'm used to from the Rhone (or environs). I'm surprised at how much I liked this and I wonder if with 5 extra years in bottle it might develop additional complexity and become dyn-o-mite. enough so that I'm going to track down another few bottles to tuck away. Recommended. Doubly so for californiaphiles and lovers of fruit bombs.

  • Forward berry nose, graphite, dried rosemary. Blackberry, plum skin, mineral, herbal finish. Ample tannin. Tasty now, might be better in 1-3.

  • Color has a garnet edge. Nose with warm and ripe black fruits. Cassis and black berries. Some spice, star anise, some animal and wild notes. Palate is ripe with integrated tannins. Same black fruits. Nice structure. Loong finish. Very nice wine. Drinks perfectly now, but can be cellared for a few more years. Good wine and very good price quality ration.

  • A good wine. Grippy tannins, dark, dark berries, medium finish. I wasn't familiar with Mourvedere and this is a pleasant daily sipper.

  • A bit muted at first but really opened up with some air time. Similar notes as other have described red fruit, licorice, garrigue. Plenty of life in this. Great QPR.

  • This is a concentrated dark garnet wine with overwhelming scents of licorice and dried herbs. The palate is limited on fruit and maximal on structure, with exceedingly firm tannins and drying mouthfeel. Perhaps this was in a weird place, but it came off as many a priorat has in the past…the heavy cooked fruit instead of the pretty and floral type.

  • Funky, savory style. Cinnamon, plum skins, brined olives. Big wine and a big finish.

  • Beautiful Bandol. PnP...opened nicely in the glass with a medium tannin/acid structure and a nice cinnamon stick flavor slicing through a darker fruit spectrum. It came across more traditional and with some earthy components as it opened up.

I believe it has the ability to go another 2-3 years. It is indeed drinking nicely now with minimal air. 91 points.

  • Dark blackish garnet colored, full bodied, big dense and concentrated black berry and plum fruits with some gamey notes, pepper, glycerin, dusty earth and garrigue herbs turning to gripping tannins on the lengthy finish.

  • Great aromas of dark fruit, tar, fig, and cocoa. Palette matches the aromas with a medium plus finish. The only thing missing is a softer mouth feel and a longer finish but otherwise great Bandol.

  • A good wine but not particularly good value for the price. Needs a solid decant of an hour or more to really open up.

  • Passade till oxfilé då det blommade ut. Bra matvin, det vi smakade innan lyfte inte helt. Luftade i en timme. Trevliga tanniner. Vi tyckte inte att den doftade så mycket.

Lakrits, tobak, eftersmak av mörk choklad.

At five years of age, this likely will improve further and be more approachable and perhaps more integrated in five years and be suitable for another decade.

  • Flott mørk farge, nese kraftig og tiltrekkende. Kraftig vin, men veldig tiltalende med kraftig mat.

  • Blackberry, leather and some funk on the nose. Lots of fruit, some warmth from the alcohol but it has a good balance. Already very enjoyable but will only improve over the next five to ten years.

  • An organic Bandol made mainly from Mourvèdre with some Grenache and small additions of Cinsaut, Syrah and Carignan. Aged in old, large oak foudres. 14,5% alcohol.

Almost fully opaque black ruby color. Big, youthful and rather sweet-toned nose with vibrant yet slightly reticent aromas of bilberries, some savory notes of game, a little bit of perfumed floral character, light juicy plummy tones, a herbal hint of garrigue and a whiff of alcohol. The wine is dense, concentrated and chewy on the palate with full body and quite powerful flavors of boysenberries and blueberries, peppery spice, some gamey tones, a little bit of astringent chokeberry, light earthy notes, a hint of dried aromatic herbs and a touch of earth. The overall feel is ripe yet pretty dry with impressive structure - thanks to the quite high acidity and firm tannins that slowly pile up on the gums. The finish puts even more emphasis on the tannic grip while the lengthy flavors of ripe plums and juicy berries retain their power, followed by lighter nuances of charred game and meaty umami, some peppery tones, a hint of bitter chokeberry and a touch of earth.

A bold, concentrated and powerful Bandol that has lots of power, but doesn't feel particularly open yet. Shows depth and impressively firm and assertive sense of structure, but above else - youth. This is all too young to be drunk now. Sure, the wine is very drinkable already and definitely benefits from aeration, but overall the wine seems to be of future potential. There's tons of unrealized promise here. No need to drink before its 10th birthday. A fine wine now, but expect the score to go up with age. Great value at 18,36€.

  • 18/20 Coup de cœur Exceptionnel, en bio
Rubis dense, brillant. Nez au fruité profond et intense.Fruits noirs (framboises noires et camerise). En bouche, les tanins sont imposants +++. Structuré et avec une texture qui apporte beaucoup de plaisirs.
Un Bandol exemplaire ! Excellent ***

  • Medium purple color, with a nose of brambly fruit, forest floor, and iron notes. The palate shows crunchy red and blackberry fruits, cedar, and spice, with the midpalate filling in a bit with air. Young, having pronounced but balanced acid and tannin, and a nice texture though the finish.

  • Winebar [2 Rosés, 2 Whts, & 8 Reds] from 09/13/19 + 8 Shared Bottles (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): Supposedly, 78% Mourvèdre, 16% Grenache, 4% Cinsualt, & 2% Syrah "from 30 yr old vines grown in clay-limestone soil with cailloux; Typically, hand-harvested @ low yields of 36hL/ha; Entirely destemmed, 22 day fermentation on indigenous yeasts with occasional pigeage in foudre; Aged in large foudre;"

N: Slightly closed; Vanilla (?) slightly atop RIPE berries with hints of pyrazines? Intensity lurking?

P: Med body; Rndish entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which only somewhat resolves by the LONG, balanced finish with a tangy/SWTNESS to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '20, I suspect, then drinking through '23 min. 14.5% ABV; My EXC-, particularly when QPR is considered. 95 pts Dunnuck & 91 WA (Czerwinski). [This vendor's $22.95 puts it @ the HEAD of wine-searcher's "class".]

  • No in depth notes. Big wine, youthful with lots of power and dark fruit. Dried herbs, liquorice, salvia. Not complex or balanced at this stage but this wine really (usually) excels with aging so I recommend to wait for at least 10.
