  • Medium to a dark garnet colored. Very impressive nose with ripe raspberries, violets, blueberries and some soft cocoa notes. On the palate a fruit explosion with lots of ripe red and dark berries, a serious black pepper note, some apricot notes and beautiful sweet limestone notes. Medium bodied with a fresh medium intense acidity and firm but well integrated tannins. Not a feminine style Pinot Noir, it’s quite opulent, but not in a bad way. Super complex structure and an astonishing overall balance. The finish is savory and super long.
96 points for now but it will definitely age and evolve gracefully (+98). Prices on the tertiary market for this wine always explode after its release. You’re very lucky if you manage find a bottle around 1,000-1,500 bucks, most times it will cost more than 2,000 bucks. Is it worth the money? No wine is worth that much money, but if you have the money why don’t spend it on rare and amazing wine like this one.
    Drink now until 2035. (IG)

  • LB visit. Earthier than Colombiere or Chateau.

  • Winos' excellent adventure in France; 6/22/2017-6/27/2017 (All over France): As much as I love the Clos du Chateau, this is a step up. Energetic pure black fruit, very floral, mocha and limestone. Very silky, already showing a lot of finesse. Really sexy wine.
