Surprisingly good, and in a good way... a random addition to an auction lot that interested me... lush, full of fruit, integrated tannins, really exceeded expectations!

After 2 cults and a 96 Mouton we opened this expecting it to under deliver and over the hill. Boy were we surprised. Full, rich, round, balanced, flavorful with a wonderful finish. Nothing wrong here. We have mags and I want to try that next.

this is a delicious wine that might be at the end of its life. I just got it a month ago from the winery and kept it at cellar temp, so I think it was stored well for its whole life and it doesnt have a lot of life left. Nice fruit, no acid left, deep red colors, light aromas of red berry and cinnamon remain, but if you have it, my humble opinion is to drink it now. This bottle was a magnum, btw

Having consumed quite a few of these it feels like its beginning to be a bit over the hill. I'll try another one soon to see (since I have almost two cases left).....kind of "bland" by comparison -- maybe just integrating but for me a lot less interesting.

Last of the 2004 lot. The new version, oddly enough, has a rocket shaped bottle, a touch tacky and gimmicky, come on Caldwell! Your wine is good enough to not need tricks or gimmicks! In the end its the stuff inside that counts, and this has some good stuff, very reminiscent of a Shiraz with more tannin and a touch more acidity.
Color: Saturated red, opaque center.
Nose: Cocoa, cherry, white pepper, spicy oak and a little tobacco in the background
Palate: Full bodied and balanced. Not a wimpy wine by any means the attack starts with lush dark fruits, chocolate, sweet oak. The flavors sail through the mid-palate and the finish goes on for 30+ seconds. Tannins and bright acidity frame a great finish. A great example of Coombsville.
Time has toned it down a bit, better than my last bottle

Really enjoyed this - very polished with a robust mouthfeel and an excellent finish. The merlot mutes the wine a bit in my view but this is a very nice wine

Big red fruit with chewy tannins. Ripe, almost concentrated fruit and lots of oak, pair nicely with the big chewy tannins to deliver a fun, monolithic wine.

I really enjoyed this wine, but for the money I'm not sure it was a good value. Nice and smooth, reminded me a little of the Langtry meritage that is about half the price.

Black fruits and alchohol on the nose. Decent midpalate feel but a very tart mouth puckering finish. Not overly tannic just not as balanced as it could be.

Lots and lots of sweet blueberry, oak, and some currant. Sweet and thick but not too tannic. It improved overnight, but was still overly one dimensional.

Purple in color, nicely balanced, black fruit with lots of spice on the finish; I enjoyed this wine but I am not sure it is worth the price
