Found another bottle. Yummy again. We had it with eggplant chili. It was very good and very good combo. This will live longer - maybe 3 to 5 years and get better BUT? Why wait?

Standard fantastic nose for a franc: raspberry, bell pepper, graphite, sage, strawberry, baking spices, spiced chocolate, some oak, definitely a mixture that leaves all tasting profiles well represented
Raspberry stands out on a pretty dry but still milky mouthfeel, a lot of the same characteristics as the nose and a very long lasting finish that continues to evolve. Good acidity, maybe a little too fruit forward for my preference in cab franc but it could be just a little bit of youth and the fruit is still not quite ripe so a little bit tart and thus the presence is more noticeable. Some bitterness in the finish helps mitigate the fruit, along with the other characteristics.

Upon initial opening, there was a very reticent nose and a sour cherry taste. Decanted and tried in about 60 minutes and found the wine had opened extensively with a much more polished taste of macerated cherry, raspberry, spice, and tobacco notes. Drank in the next 60 minutes and continued to improve with smooth and velvety mouthfeel, and depth of flavor. Paired wonderfully with veal ossobuco.

Decanted for 60 minutes. Fairly big wine with lots of dark fruit and smooth tannins. None of the vegetal notes common to cab franc. Similar in some ways to Pride Mountain cab franc.

This needs to rest in the cellar for a few years for optimum enjoyment. Some rough edges and rustic elements at this early juncture. The wine has a beguiling nose of cotton candy, bubblegum, and some red fruit. No apparent vegetal notes here... Probably because of the generous dollop of CS and Malbec.
Not as exciting on the palate with a slightly disjointed nature and some gritty tannin. Good quality fruit but somewhat one dimensional.
I much prefer what Heidi Barrett does with CF at Paradigm at a slightly better price point. Not dissapointed here, but not ready to shower the Chappellet with high praise.

Inky dark color. Rich dark blackberries and plum notes with a hint of smoke. Full bodied with smooth tannins with a medium length finish.

Honestly. I probably should have decanted this. It never developed into anything. A rather expensive bottle of blah.

Always a winner. Needed about 45 minutes to open. Probably will be better in 2020.
