Incredibly tannic, even after four hours. It was a mess of bruised fruit, high alcohol burn, leather, and tobacco. It’s nine years old and still nearly undrinkable. I’m starting to think it’s just not going to get better. This is my second of six and disappointed

Decanted 2 hours. Because of the high ABV (15.1%), it's better with food than standing alone. Otherwise, the wine is very balanced between fruit, tertiary flavors, tannins, and acidity.

Another very nice showing, served at celler temp and was a little tamnic amd grippy initially, but fleshed out with some air and warming up (not hard to do in CA Labor Day weekend). Like the dusty tannins. Very tasty and drinking well, no need to keep.

Lots of diverging notes, and rightfully so. Based upon many of the comments related to tannins, oak, and youthfulness, I opened this for an hour, and then decanted for another hour prior to enjoying with a chargrilled grilled ribeye and grilled Brussels sprouts. Lots of great material and winemaking here: fruit, structure and acidity. Starting to come into an early drinking window, but I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED decanting and hearty food to maximize enjoyment. Patience and time needed for this....

Finished this bottle after removing a glassful via Coravin a few months ago. Good news is it's not coming off as oaky and tannic - bad news is I have to wonder if the Coravin did it's job properly, or my palate is a little off. Nose just seems a bit muted. Not a bad wine, but just not exciting.
Decanted and drank over several hours- still very tannic. Put 1/2 bottle under cork. Next day, much better- fruit appeared. Next time, decant for 4 hours or hold for a few more years. Surprisingly good for a $26 cab the 2nd day!

From coravin and then finishing bottle. Smells like new oak. Still astringent on the palate. This is my third bottle and I just don't quite get what others like about it. Even after being in glass for a few hours didn't yield much. Maybe it's too young.

I had three bottles over the course of a year or so, and none of them sparkled like the folks here giving it 90+ points seem to indicate. I don’t know if garagiste got a bad lot or what, but unfortunately none of the bottles impressed me.

Classic Rutherford cab. Nicely balanced with the iconic Rutherford dust clearly but not overtly present. This seems like it’ll stick around for a while, especially from the strong 2013 vintage.

We had this with grilled NY Strips on 4/1/19. It had a deep, expressive nose of cassis, plum, tobacco, licorice, herb and spice. The palate was smooth, balanced and dry with flavors that followed the nose.

We had this with a cheese plate on 3/24/19. It had a deep, rich and expressive nose of dried flowers, cassis, tobacco, licorice, herb and spice aromas. The palate was smooth, integrated and dusty dry with flavors of black currant, black cherry, tobacco, licorice and spice.

Approached this with some trepidation given the notes. Was looking for a youngish cab to go with a steak dinner. This worked out great. Dark intense colour. Nose is soft but intense, dark currant and dark plum. Palate is medium sweet, reasonably concentrated, with dusty blackcurrant and plum fruit. Dry, soft tannins. Nicely balanced with a decent finish. Excellent. Drinking very nicely.
Tasted the next day. Probably even better, would upgrade to a 91, lovely balance and long tasty finish.

Can you say tannin? Wow, this is a full-throttle red. Seemed way too young, and while big (15%) it didn't actually seem overly hot. It is broad-shouldered and just a bit hard to enjoy. Perhaps better in 5+ years? Not sure.

I had much higher expectations for this wine. Been recently to the BV winery and did the Latour tasting and had the pleasure of trying many of the latour’s along with a bunch of the Maestro collection wines. But for the life of me I do not remember any of the wines ever being near or over 15%. Now I do enjoy many high test Napa vinos, but for this one it is just to much. The heat from the alcohol blinds the classic Rutherford dust. Plus the one bottle I acquired had a ton of sediment and for a 2013 just seems to be a bit much.

I was asked through a message on here about this wine, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to respond. Weinmatt - if you want to send another note explaining how, I will do so.
Very happy with this Garagiste purchase. I’m a wine wannabe and rate it whether I like it, really like it, so so, or don’t like. I really liked this.

Dark and ripe on nose and palate, juicy with soft acidity and tannins. Not hugely complex but with a little earth and a little currant.
