Nearly at the end of its ideal drinking window. Still a very nice syrah and cab sauv dominated blend. Several layers of black and some red fruits. Some sweet Oak. A 20 second finish. Very smooth.

Still hanging on. Typical Behrens - loads of alcohol but also loads of and layers of fruit. Some sweet Oak and herbs. At this point a soft and smooth finish of black currant. Drink up in next couple years.

Opened. Let stand for 30-45 mins. Started out spicy and peppery. Almost startlingly so. After some time in the glass, smoothed and mellowed very nicely.

This wine was still holding very nicely in my opinion. Deep ruby in color, very fruit forward with raspberries and cherry on the 45 second long finish. Paired with a NY Strip and was an excellent match. I'm not sure this wine will improve any more but I think could hold for another 12-24 months.

This was solid. Splash decanted then poured. Ready to go and got better in the glass. A Merlot for Cab lovers...dark ruby red in color with dark berries. A wonderfully integrated wine that I don't see getting much better. I'd open more...if I had any left.

This followed a SQN Just for the Love of It, so it had some difficult competition. Nonetheless, the wine was great. Wonderful Cali Cab fruit on display. While not as big or long as the SQN, the B&H was simply wonderfully in its drinkability window, even if it lacks the complexity of its earlier competition. A great wine to match the warmth of the Holidays.

Tasted again - fragrant nose with some nice herbal and vegetal (in a good way) notes. Spicy, concentrated palate - fruit, oak and a hint of olive. Some syrah in this? A little oaky for me but this is very nice. 92+

Really impressed. Much more depth and complex than expected. The fruit was more subtle that when young, the alcohol wasn't hot, and there were nice tones of graphite and tobacco there that really was enjoyed by all.

Not in the same class as prior vintages of this wine, but still a very good, fun wine. We like to pair it with Indian food, and again it worked very nicely. This vintage seems to be a bit heavier than the '01 or '03, but still the black and blue fruit, tobacco and mocha flavors, with decent acid and structure. I'm saving half the bottle to watch game #3 of Cubs v LA; hopefully there will be cause to celebrate with a great bottle to watch tomorrow night's game #4.

Fabulous blend from Les Behrens presents loads of plum and a palate with a velvet texture and long finish. These rich, unfiltered wines from B&H (and now Erna Schein) are never drab or disappointing. This was the last of my 2004.....boy did I goof. I called this morning and there is no more (only 265 cases produced) so now I'll have to wait for the 2005!

Great nose. A couple hours later the palette matched the nose. Bright berry. Just a beautiful wine.

Delicious! Dark fruit, plum, tobacco flavors, supple and smooth. Worked with Hunan food.

Plenty of fruit left with just a touch of oak. A little heat on the nose. Decanted an hour and drank over two. Held well. A nice bottle of wine.

Round red, almost tomatoey fruit on nose, considerable oak. Similar on palate. Nice but not my fave - too sweet and simple? 89-90

Solid Cab. Would have liked to see it evolve more after two hours of decanting, but was very pleased with this wine.
