This was already good last year and it got even better. Paired well w sausage pizza and Caesar salad w anchovies. Red cherry, vanilla & spice flavors. My favorite Ridge zin to date.

PnP. Color is deep saturated garnet/purple. On the nose: Blackberry, red berries, vanilla and plum. On the palate: Rich black and red berries, vanilla and a bit of dark chocolate. This is rich and luscious. Excellent effort. It has really aged well and has plenty of time left I think. I have been laying down a lot of Ridge Zinfandels over the years. I am impressed with this one.

Opened 45 minutes before drinking. Initial flavors were red cherry and licorice. After the wine breathed, blackberry, dark plum and black pepper flavors joined in. Went perfectly with grilled lamb chops, wild rice and a garden salad.

sb Fairly deep ruby purple Mature tasting red blend, a bit overripe with a touch of heat. Blind I had a hard time pinpointing it and was a bit disappointed with the reveal as this seems a bit more heavy handed than most Ridge. The petite sirah is very present and masks some of the zin fruit. nice, but…

Well we didn’t hang onto the last bottle much longer (we last drank this in August)... this was one of the best bottles we’ve had in a long time, and one of the best Ridge’s that we’ve drunk. We were sad when we finished it off. Drinking very well right now, beautiful flavor, not too sweet or juicy, not too dry or light. Just right.

While I can't remember much from my last bottle of this from 2 years ago, I can say that this one was much more memorable. Great QPR on this really nice blend of Zinfandel and Petit Syrah which held up very nicely against a Chimichurri with heavy-handed approach to garlic. In a great place now, so don't hesitate to enjoy.

Sweet oak and saucy zinberry. This is almost integrated but not quite. The fruit seems fatter than I remember a couple years back. Could use a touch more acidity but it's expressive enough that you might not care. Leans darker and brooding but classic Zin expression. The 14's from Ridge continue to impress.

We drank this along with the 2012. Decanted for over an hour. This was drinking much better than the 2012. Still had most of the tannins left, but I recommend drinking both vintages now.

Served with home-made tomato soup and salad. Purple/ruby, almost opaque. Dark fruit nose, plum, fig, black cherry. Good balance, appropriate acid and tannin, smooth, turning to a touch of heat, with some richness to the fruit as well. May have caught this one in a good place.

Darn good Ridge. Mainly zin with Petite S mixed in. Gave it some air. Dark full bodied wine with dark blue and purple fruit. Still some heat but pleasant, pairs well with spicy food. Good finish.

Sunday burger. This was gift from Gerry. Nextto Buchignani Ranch 14. Very different wines, this has PS and the other had carignan, thezin may also have different terroir. Anyway. This was good and fun comparison. Good color, great zin flavor and some body. I like these special ATP bottlings. Goo finish and works swell with burger. This won because it has more body and spice, the other one was more elegant. Good wine - drink up (both)

Robe pourpre.

Ruby-purple core, with plum and sweet cherry nose. Full of ripe, sweet fruit (including plenty of cherry) on the attack, offset by good acidity and surprisingly soft tannins considering the 19% Petite Sirah. The oak is hardly noticeable given the intensity of the fruit. A very good case could be made for enjoying this now, but given the underlying structure I might hold some back and see if anything more will develop with a bit more age. Vey nice.

An ATP wine. Served with home-made pizza. Cork check: no problem. Look: dark purple/crimson. Smell: Jane got an initial hint of alcohol. Dark fruit (cherry), with a tinge of sweetness, lurking but muted leather. Taste: acid and tannin teeter-totter, dry cherry, plays very nicely with the pizza, some heat in the mix. Good length. Note: went well with the Italian sausage.

Decanted for two hours. Big wine, dark cherry, hefty flavor - leather, dark berry and alcohol on the nose. Paired well with pizza after picking up my wife at the airport. Would be well paired with bbq, grilled meats, big and bold dishes. Well done.

Popped and poured. Inky purple color, really quite dark. Blasted on the nose with ripe, intense red and black fruit, slightly stewed, hints of toasty oak and a touch of heat coming through. Ripe and jammy fruit on the palate with medium acid and tannin. Has an almost port like finish. All in all, not my favorite and while certainly tasty and bold, seemed a bit out of balance for me.

A bit tight and not real forward. Nice build feeling somewhat lean with a nice amount of tannin. Strong blackberry component. I liked the way it worked with dinner today but this could open and flesh out a bit more with a little bottle time. A "classy" wine for a Zin. This will likely never be a great wine but it's a damn good one. Another in the Ridge lineup to put in front of those that have prejudices about Zinfandel.

Brambly black raspberry, candied dark cherry, tobacco, vanilla, spice. Medium-full body. Moderate acidity. Medium-light tannins. Medium-plus finish. Sweeter than I like but it’s good for the style. It went well with chili and pizza (separately) and I agree with others that it would go well with BBQ.

I can't think of much to add to the prior notes. To me, the hallmark of this zinfandel is its rich, succulent dark cherry fruit. It needs a bit of air to really settle in and deliver what it has to offer in terms of aromas and flavor. It's very approachable now, no need to sit on this. My score may be a bit low. (90+)

A very transformative wine. After an hour decant, very Jolly Rancher syrupy and sweet, but when paired with bbq wings, it really came alive with dark red fruit and blueberry, a touch of funkiness and a lingering peppery finish. After the meal it transitioned to much more earthly, much what I come to expect from Ridge.
