Jammy blackberry, weak coffee, light smoke. Needed some air to open. Long finish with grilled meat notes and nice acidity. Nothing was overly assertive, and it had good power.

Opened and decanted for 1 hour - Aroma of black cherry, herbs and light spice. The palate is full and grippy yet soft and lush. Black fruits with herbal flavors that melt into tobacco, pepper and oak spices. Well balanced and layers of fruit, herbs, spice and minerality.

Dark plum and black cherry, with violets, cola, and a hint of licorice. Firm tannins showing cigar box and minerallity. Big, bold Syrah blend, yet with finesse and character. In a good place now, with years a fine drinking ahead.

Remarkable Syrah blend, with roundness and complexity. Soft blueberry and black cherry fruit, with graphite, dusty tannins, and no sharp edges. Violets and cola into a long, dark plum finish. 95% Syrah co-fermented with 5% Grenache and Viognier. Drinking beautifully with 10+ yrs ahead.

Wanted to check on this, truly a beautiful wine right now, I think another year it will fill out just a bit more. A little disjointed, but it should all come together in another year.

Paso Robles Wine Trip; 9/12/2017-9/14/2017: Super juicy aromatics of blueberries and dark plums, lots of graphite, violets, cola. Built so well with strong tannins but crisp acidity. Blueberries and plum cake line up so nicely with sage, charcoal, violets, vanilla and cocoa. This is very young and needs at least five years until maybe it will start to show its best, but this wine really wowed me. 95% Syrah, 3% Grenache, 2% Viognier, aged 23 months in 70% new French oak.
