Tasted blind. Nose was a bit muted at first and generally light with some red fruit and a hint of cedar. Good acidity with relatively low tannins, red berries and raspberries on the palate. Medium finish.

I stumbled over a bottle of this in the crawl space, thinking I'd finished it a couple of years ago. It's kind of amazing: dense tannins, deep fruit, lacy acidity. In keeping with my conjecture that good cru Beaujolais collapses into an ugly phase when it's abundant youthful fruit decomposes, and eventually re-emerges in a radically different phenotype: serious dry table wine. Acids here a tiny bit intense, but a very serious wine, in any event. If I have the history of this vineyard right, it's located near Coudert's Roilette in Fleurie, which previously had been classified as Moulin-a-Vent. The wine certainly ages in this spirit.

Unappealing immediately on opening, then thin for a while and unimpressive. Given time, good structure and interesting fine fruit. As with other recent bottles of the Vissoux 2005 crus, the acid structure is rather elegant, the tannins fine and resolved. When it comes, eventually, the fruit is well-proportioned. Enjoyed the last glass several days after opening, and it was quite good with quick, informal bite.

Like the Poncie, this wine smells and tastes rather pruney on opening, albeit less so. With modest exposure to air, it becomes quite fine, with precise, freshening acidity giving good lift and cut, reserved fine tannins, and just a bit of fruit - in the plum/prune direction, and attractive, though prune is not obviously an appealing descriptor. This is very good wine at nine years; I'm glad I stocked up in 09 and 11.

Drinking nicely; starts with a rustic streak of savage acidity, but this goes away rapidly after opening. Smooth, dark cherry fruit with ample supporting acidity, medium bodied, some Gamay gaminess on the finish; best with food. Drink or hold.

Dark garnet. Decidedly dull nose actually shows alcohol (Beaujolais has to be really bad to do that!) and undistinguished weeds...this seems more Californian than anything else. Fat yet prickly on the palate, I know this producer's goods well (and this includes a personal visit), and I know this must not be representative.

A nice Fleurie - dark cherry fruit and floral aspects on the nose, dark cherry and cranberry fruit on the palate with some brett/funk that I found a little offputting in this particular wine.

A Bevy of 2005 Beaujolais: Beautiful deep ruby. Burst of black cherry aroma in addition to an evergreen component. Obviously good fruit on the entry, but quickly cut off by brisk acidity and some tannins. Comes across as tart and does not have the most pleasing mouth feel or finish right now. The palate is a letdown after smelling this. My impression is very similar to that of drdebs 3 months ago (the only other note on this wine in the database).

Bright ruby in color. Pronounced aromas of black cherry with some alcoholic heat. On the palate, more black cherries, some mint or herbs, and a bit of barnyard funk. More complex than many gamay, but a bit disjointed with a slightly bitter finish.
