Lovely stone fruits on the body with elegant notes of oak on the nose. Medium acid, long finish. Surprising how vibrant it is given the age. No oxidized flavors, mature but not showing decline.
I was not expecting this wine to be as good as it was. When I recieved the bottle from Aucwine, the cork had "pistoned" and the capsule was loose- which made me think heat damage, but this wine was definitely not.
The wine pours with a golden hue, immediately I am hit with aromas of lanolin, lemon curd, and wet crushed rocks. After about 20 minutes the wine began to open up- softening that crunchy lemony note. Aromas of apricot, honey, citrus, and bitter herbs with a little oxidation on the nose. In the mouth, the wine is vibrant and fresh, if not a little tired. Flavors are pretty balanced, the wine seems a little acid forward. Flavors of apples, honey, and citrus and again a bit of oxidation. The wine comes off a bit simple in the mouth- but that nose is too intoxicating. For $30.00, I am a happy camper.

Tasted alongside the '96 I think this is very good, and on its own would be scored well with and without food. But the '96 had the edge on it for my palate. Drink up. A-

Deep yellow color. Apple, lanolin, honey and cotton notes. Medium-bodied with apple, pear and cotton flavors and a hint of spice on the finish. Long finish; nicely balanced. 92-93 pts.

Popped and poured. Brilliant yellow/gold. Initial notes of acacia honey, dried white flowers and lightly roasted nuts lead to flavors of preserved lemon and dried pineapple. Lively, rich and luscious. "Bags of vigor" as Clive Coates would say. Really lovely Chardonnay! Drink now through 2016.

Medium gold color. Interesting balance between New World and Old World. Some ripe and forward fruit, but elegant and nothing overpowering. Minerals in the middle, and then finishes with some butter - but again, very light on its feet. Overall just a bit thin and starting to fade, but very good and better than the last bottle. Next day it was a goner... A-

Medium yellow-gold color. Nose of shells, lime, rocks, and a whiff of marshmallow. Palate follows with a lemon-marzipan core that is dressed with a stony citrus finish that is medium in length. A bit of barrel tannin on the finish distracts a bit, but this is a fine performance for a mature Mount Eden Chardonnay and a redemption compared to the last bottle from this case in 2007, which was showing more oxidation. Drink.

Crisper and fresher than my last bottle of this (oddly enough as it had a somewhat loose cork). But still not a very good example of what Mount Eden chardonnay can be. It's bitter and hot -- literally tough to swallow.

Darker color than a young Chardonnay (obviously). Shy nose initially, but a nice, complex minerally, lemon curd palate that had some elements of a white Burg, except for being a bit richer. Drank over two nights with dinner. Second half of bottle was poured into a half bottle and then corked. I'm pointing out the second half because it did not fare well over night. If I had another bottle, I would drink it up on the first night. Pretty fun for a 12 year old CA Chardonnay.

Good but not great nose. Tart fruit, but a nice finish with plenty of cut. Easy to mistake for a White Burgundy but for a bit of butter on the finish. Seems like it can hold for a bit but unlikely it will get better. Nice wine. B+

Absolutely fantastic, classic stuff. Lemon curd, baked spiced apples. Wonderful warmth and complexity. Mature, but not past its prime, with more time yet. Would be interesting to make this a ringer in a flight of aged white burgundy. Just lovely...

Golden color. Reticent nose of lemon peel. On the palate, lemon zest with modest butterscotch notes and some minerality. Good acidity gives it zip and focus. Minerality shows on the finish, which lasts for more than 30 seconds. Drinking well now, but with the ability to age for many more years. This will be a fun one to follow...

- Brilliant yellow with a touch of gold. - Very pretty nose of honeysuckle, spice, citrus zest and rosemary. Very complex and intriguing aromatics. - Rich, sweet and powerful entry with excellent mid palate and flavors of spiced pear, melon, sweet spice and orange liqueur. Complete and harmonious. - Soft and plush finish lifted by secondary aromas and supported by well integrated acidity. - Drink now to 2012.

Pale gold. Lovely persistent nose of honeydew melon and fresh flowers. Medium-bodied and seamless, with subtle, complex melon and lychee flavors and just a hint of oak. Finish was "melodious" (my best word for it). This bottle aged very well. Delightful.

Opened by Allred at Anvil. Lemon oil and some pear notes with crisp acidity. Still drinking well and a treat to experience. Love how these age.
