Guessing that these have another year left in them, then a slow decline. If held on the tongue a little, it shows a completely different profile (much better) revealing a layer of depth and finish that could otherwise go unnoticed in its ""old" age.

Dark cherry and bright acid on the nose. Nice fruit with cherry/ raspberry leading the way with very nice acid backbone. Tannin are rounded. Medium finish. Great with duck confit and loin of rabbit at Marsche Moderne--a fantastic restaurant in Costa Mesa CA. I will buy more of his wine.

I respectfully disagree with the last taster's notes (and the community window) regarding drinking window - this wine has several peak years remaining! Very CdP-like in structure and aroma - the tannins have soften, but are still clearly evident, and a nose of licorice, strawberry & raspberry preserves and provencial herbs jumps from the glass. The fruit has started to mature, but vivid and deep berry notes remain. I'm very impressed with this wine and essentially stole it for the $12 pricetag I paid. Another stunning deal from PA's serious wine sale...

Black fruit on the nose. Mature and more subdued than when younger. Some lavender and graphite in the taste. With a clean saline finish. Starting to thin out so probably time to drink up. But a nice wine.

Dark ruby color. Aromas of fresh blackberries and blue berries. Flavors of raspberry, plumb, cherry kirsch, and blackberry. The fruit is maturing and everything is still in balance. Good acidity. Medium bodied. Brandy like finish with good complexity and length. Holding up quite well with a few more years left in the tank. A blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 17% Mourvedre, and 8% Counoise. 14.8% alcohol.

Focused and lean this was a beautifully crafted wine...the varietals had blended seamlessly. Surprised that it was not bigger, verging on jammy being from Paso....but i loved it!

50% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 17% Mouvedre & 8% Counoise I really wanted to like this wine and tried it over a 2 day period. Served a touch on the cold side & studied in the glass as it came up in room temp so I could get a good read on this wine. Unfortunately it was completely out of balance. Massive, thick & clumsy. Syrupy with globby red fruit and a touch of iron. On each occassion I couldn't finish my glass. 50+5+12+14+4=85

Fantastic. Bright red fruit on the nose and palette. Syrah really comes through on the palette. Complex and floral nose. I will buy more of this as soon as I can.

yikes! not a great showing. i thought the finish was clipped, and too much oak. my recollection of this wine is one of good focus, and interesting fruit, which is very muddled tonight, combined with mouth puckering tannin.

connoisseur wines new world and new additions fall portfolio (Vivere, Chicago IL): nose: wow, am I drinking a california wine, or a Chateauneuf? great nose that is a dead ringer for a excellent CdP with red berry tones, loads of cracked pepper, briar tones and some meaty blackberry tones. I had to do a double take with this wine to make sure it said Paso Robles and didn't have some sort of bottle art
taste: super silky and smooth medium body feel to it with lush tones of red berries, blackberries, cracked pepper, and underbrush tones. Just a real pleasure to drink
overall: this could easily be put into a blind CdP tasting and I'd have a hard time calling this one out almost every time. On the complete opposite end of the spectrum of the super ripe style of grenache that comes from australia and california. This is a great wine with room to grow and is just so smooth and silky with a polished red berry attack and blackberry finish

(14.8% vol) No notes on colour; immediately after opening, there were notes of earth, mushrooms, (musk?), strawberries, and some heat on the nose; on the palate it was fresh and lively with some delicious fruit that was not "jammy". There was a nice, smooth mouthfeel, with coffee and toast on the very long finish. After about 2 hours, there was a distinct note of blackberries along with some woody-herbal notes on the finish. I really enjoyed tasting this wine, but it ended up being too hard to drink (too much alcohol for my preference and I could feel it after half a glass (although the wine was a nice match for the slow-roasted Tuscan ribs but did not pair that well with the cornbread and BBQ sauce). It is a great bottle to share with friends (one taster mentioned pomegranate as a descriptor for this wine). Also, I would have preferred being back in California drinking this wine and only having to stumble back up to the hotel room after I was finished.

Beguiling nose of strawberry preserves, blackberry bush, face powder, a touch of animal and a little sweet bacon fat. Supple, slightly soft on the palate with strawberry, orange peel and a little dried herb. The energetic finish shows tobacco, red fruits, dried grasses and a dusty minerality. No heat. Added a pleasing mocha element after a couple of hours. Seems at peak.

Sweet tarts on the nose. Tastes of blueberries and raspberries with pretty earth undertones. Vibrant acidity makes this wine very refreshing. A rather deep and complex finish with lots of finesse. This wine has shed some of its baby fat and has settled into a well balanced wine with everything I look for. 50% Grenanche, 25% Syrah, 17% Mourvedre and 8% Counoise. 14.8% alcohol.

Blackcurrant preserves, sappy cherry, talc, wild flowers, dried tobacco and a foxy(?), animal streak. The finish is bright with a dusty minerality - tasting the limestone? There just a hint of heat on the finish, otherwise very nicely balanced. Will improve with another 1-2 years in the cellar. Kept my interest until the last drop.

Very interesting wine. Color is more blue than any wine I can remember. It really hasn't settled at all, but it seems to have enormous potential. As complex as any California syrah-based wine I have tasted.

4th Annual Arizona Tour de Paso Robles (Scottsdale Culinary Institute): Flowers and raspberries. Extremely complex mid-palate with a smooth, elegant, rich finish. Very well balanced. More on the finesse side compared to the Hedge and 46. I was told that there was very little of this produced. This is in my opinion the best wine made by the Hoage's to date. All I can say is wow. Run, don't walk, to buy as much of this as you can.
