Garnet color. Mature fruit nose with some minor vinegar notes. Black cherry and earth. Tart acidity. Earthy finish with some depth. A bit maderized. 14.5% alcohol.

Good regional typicity, with dark berry fruit, herbs and spice. Yet, soemhow, I found this wine just a bit underwhelming. The fruit lacked a bit of brightness and the complexity was just ok. Certainly not a bad wine, actually quite good, but I had hoped for a bit more...something....

Medium ruby with purple tinge. Nose of black cherry, raspberry, broken stones and spices. Palate of ripe cherry and peppery spice, with med+ tannin and med acidity. Needed time to open up (2 hour decant). Got even better as the night went on, developing a longer and longer finish to the fruit and spice.

Nice wine. Earthy, bit of spice, dark fruits. Well balanced and slight tobacco flavor lingering on the finish. Paid $14, at that price you can't go wrong. Popped and poured, although good right upon opening it needed about an hour to start coming into its own. This was a very good variation from the zin at dinner and the Malbec from the other night. I do enjoy the Rhone. . .

Good but not great. A good example of the Rhone, but not terribly exciting. Definitely benefited from some decanting. Earth with a little bit of chemical on the nose. Not over-oaked, but doesn't provide too much fruit beyond the oak. Decent depth and finish. I can't remember what I paid, but if it was under $20, it would have been a good buy. Despite all of the negative elements of the description thus far, I am enjoying it.

This wine was drinking well tonight. I have to bump it up a couple of points from previous notes. Outstanding acidity and tannins nicely balanced with the old world earthy annd dark fruit flavors. delicious. Drank from new Reidel glasses.

Consistent with previous note on 12/26/08. This is just a really enjoyable, simple, and easy drinking wine with some secondary characteristics that keep it from ever being boring. Popped and poured this one and it was a bit awkward at first with some plastic and band aid flavors, but that blew off quite quickly. Be sure to give this a quick trip in the decanter and you will be all set!

Very good, lovely dark fruit and spice on the nose. more dark fruit and pepper on the palate with a medium body, slight tannins and acidity. A very good wine but not a long finish, had with cheese pizza.

Popped and let sit open for about 2 hours before drinking. No decant. Really enjoyable soft black fruits and plums. There is a nice underlying layer of spice and earth just beneath that fruit. Mild acidity and soft tannins round this wine out. The finish is a bit brief, but for a $10 wine, if that's the biggest complaint you're doing OK. Fairly simple at its core, but it paired perfectly with the prime rib, roasted red potatoes, and bacon wrapped asparagus.

an edge to this bottle -- like it needs 24 hours to decanter - not as impressed as I was with the first bottle. Well - after 24 hours it was worse - not better.

Enjoyable wine, easy drinking and good value. However, does not capture the full rhone wine experience of full body, fruit with tannin balance and overall memorable wine. would buy again for matching with pizza or burgers, or plain pasts dishes.

Dark purple to black in color. Slow forming clear legs. A nice peppery bouquet with more subtle hints of cedar on the nose. This is an easy to drink, thin wine with fruits, strawberries and cherries, oak, acids and pepper. There is a bit of heat just prior to the tannic finish, and I suspect 2-3 years will balance this enjoyable wine out a bit more.

A bright wine gives much pleasure. Berry/cherry nose that shows interest. Raspberry and strawberry with out a doubt on the palate. Quite balanced finish for a $15 wine. Drinks like $35-40. Great value.

I can't even score this wine because I can't quite put my finger on it. The nose has a killer berries coated with pepper aroma that is faint but quite enticing. On the palate I get nice red fruit flavors on some sips and barely anything on others. The fruit is pure with a little spice and decent structure but it's almost tasting like a delicious wine diluted with water. You get decent length and some nice vanilla which is driving me crazy. With the score this got from Tanzer I don't see how there could be this lack of concentration and body.

Brought to Monte's dinner party. Nice nose of sweet grenache. A little hot on the finish but otherwise a nicely balanced wine. Terrific value at $16.99.

80% Grenache and 20% syrah. Ruby color and nice spice-berry-cherry nose that carries into the palate. Bright/acidic flovours. Has some time to evolve. Nice now but wiill do another bottle in 6 months.

I thought the bottle was a 2004, not 2005. The wine was very young and had the basic Vacqueyras south Cote du Rhone characteristics. Will have to wait at least another year to open another bottle.
