Deep red color, fruit jumps out of the glass but has earthiness as well. Has developed nicely over the last four years with a great QPR. I chose to drink my half case but this one could definitely go longer.

Youthful aromas of bright cherry fruit, cherry liqueur, and some herbal and vanilla elements. Still holding a lot back, but aromas did develop with some air.
Full bodied with lots of structure, acidity and flavor concentration. The finish is just short of long.
Overall very well done - hold for another 5 years and then enjoy for another decade plus.

My best bottle yet.Clearly not an early drinker. Garnet red on pour with tight aromatics and a tight flavor profile as well. Decanted 1.5 hours and it was better overall after. Some nice development since the last bottle I drank a year ago.

The wine looks garnet colored. The legs are medium. There is no sediment in the bottle. It smells like clove, black pepper, tobacco and garrigue. It tastes like cranberry and clove. The body is medium/full. The wine has smooth texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

This opaque ruby wine is a blend of 65% Grenache, with the balance made up of Syrah and Mourvèdre. Possessing a degree of refinement that is not typically seen from this appellation, it delivers a magnificent payload of dark bramble fruits, Provençal herbs, bittersweet chocolate, exotic spices and loamy earth. Full-bodied, judiciously oaked and with nicely integrated alcohol (listed as 14.5%), it wraps its flavors with plentiful silky-textured tannins and stays lusciously dense on the mid-palate. Finishing with impressive length, this is nothing short of bottled hedonism. The fruit and structure are in place for this to age gracefully throughout the decade. Bravo! Drink now-2030.

The nose is classic Gigondas - warm & bright stewed fruit - expect bacon grease & strawberry jam in there too. (sure, this is a thing.)
The palate is ripe & succulent, but in beautiful harmony with the bright acidity level. Very clear mineral undertone revealing its high altitude, chalky terroir.
Still has many years of life in the bottle – but drinks smooth now.

Cassis, cranberry, garrigue and chalk. Medium-high acidity and tannins. Should improve with a few years in the cellar, not really ready to drink in my opinion.
Edit: with two hours of air this added plum and sweet blackberry flavors making it quite tasty.
Paired with Duck confit and dressing with wild boar sausage. The fruitiness of the grenache was a great complement to the richness of the duck and dressing.

The 2016 Gigondas Terrasses de Montmirail is a potent red that showcases the richness of the vintage. Ripe mulberry and blueberry levitate from the glass alongside a host of red fruits that linger in the background. In the mouth there is terrific purity to the fruit and chewy tannins that will need a couple years to round out.

a good weekday wine and so a little pricey for that, not seeing the amazing vintage from this bottle but maybe needs some time.
