Nose is blueberry, nice acidity. It definitely could use about an hour decant. I'm enjoying the finish. Tasting smoke, some herbs, medium complexity. I believe this will improve in a couple of years.

dark fruited nose. medium (at most) aromatics. The palate is significantly improved on day two. Dark fruits, Kirsch, herbs, mineral. This had good acidity and the tannins still present. The finish improved and lengthened. I wouldn't be afraid to open this in a few years. I'll see what my next bottle is doing in 26. I really enjoyed it.

Full body. 14.5pct abv. Dark jammy fruits in nice depth and balance. There is nice soft tannic structure on the finish that gives this good body, complexity and harmony. This paired beautifully with rich buttery steaks, where we needed something big and fruity.

I found it shallow on the palate, almost as if the wine had lost its fruit due to age, but it's only been 6 years since it was bottled. It's better on the nose - bringing out aromas of red currant, cherry pie, and black pepper. Also, high on tannins, which make the finish longer, ending at the roof of the mouth.

One of those dreaded room service choices here in Telluride. At first open this had very little scent and was heavily front loaded on pallet - no finish. After a little while in glass, it starts to transform and by the end of it all it wasn't bad. There's a slight port-like note that comes with a bit of time in the glass, which I actually didn't mind and supposedly goes with the regions reputation for power. In the end I'd still say it's a bit short on finish, but yet doesn't seem to lack in acid (which is normally what I associate with short finishes). I'd drink it again if offered, but probably wouldn't buy it myself.

Dark garnet color turning brick orange at the rim with smoky notes of dark berries, clove, nutmeg and allspice. The palate is full bodied with bright acidity to balance the ripe blackberry, plum, and kirsch. There are secondary flavors of anise and black pepper on the long, spicy finish. Drink now until 2031. 91+

My preferred style of Gigondas, purple-fruited and mineral-driven. High-energy fruit, excellent delineation, medium plus acid, gritty tannins. Power and verve to spare. It should evolve and last through 2028-2030, but there is no reason not to enjoy bottles now, with a short decant.

Pros: minerality, salinity, love the stem inclusion and avoidance of oak. Nice dry, gravelly nose. Con: a barnyard funkiness that led to a low group score in blind tasting against other Gigondas, and although personally I don’t mind the funk I wonder if it is a sign of too much so2. I enjoy this although am not as high on it as I used to be.

Last tasted 8/30/2019, this deep crimson, Grenache-dominated blend is clearly moving in the right direction. Loaded with red bramble fruits, black peppercorns, licorice, smoked meat, pipe tobacco and Provençal herbs, it is a full-bodied, freshly acidic wine with nicely integrated alcohol (14.5%), soft oak and plentiful tannins that are a bit less astringent than before. Solid in the middle and long on the back end, this is on an upward trajectory. Give it a bit more cellar time, or plenty of air if you are going to pop the cork now. In this case, it was Vinturi-decanted and serially sampled over three hours. Drink 2022-2030.

Nose has some dark berry fruit and tar. Color is a dark purple. Body is the on the heavy side of medium. Initially strong somewhat dusty tannins start to subside after about 45 seconds. Pairs well and mellows out quite a bit with food.

Proper old school Gigondas. Whole clusters, concrete + minimal/old oak. Lined this up with a range of domaines from Gigondas and it came out near the top. Excellent value. Can’t believe this domaine is new to me. Will buy again.

Nice wine and great QPR. Classic old school Gigondas. A bit rough and a touch petulant the first day. Day Two the wine had calmed down and revealed a nose of garrigue, spice, roasted peanuts. The wine was full bodied with excellent ripeness and decent acidity. Flavors of red fruits, sandalwood, earth. Good length, grippy tannins in the finish. Probably needs another 2-3 years.

This was quite good, one of the high-points of our dinner, and I think it could merit 94 with cellar age (call it 92+ right now). Delicious, with a medium dark, spicy bouquet over red fruits -- plums, griotte cherry. I loved the tart, mineral inflected finish. An outstanding bottle!

Domaine Gour de Chaulé's Gigondas 2016 Cuvée Tradition is a saturated crimson, Grenache-dominated blend that is effusive of raspberry coulis, black peppercorns, licorice, smoked meat and Provençal herbs. Full-bodied, freshly acidic and with well-integrated alcohol (14.5%), it wraps its flavors with substantial tannins that are pervasive throughout the mid-palate and lengthy finish. This is a top-notch, structured Gigondas that will reward those with the patience to give it a couple of more years in the cellar. Drink 2021-2030.

This is 80% Grenache with 10% each Syrah and mouvedre. The back label recommends 8-10 years ageing so you know they take themselves seriously.
Mid red in the glass. The nose is clearly Grenache led with sweet red berries and a hint of musk, but with some fleshy plum notes underneath. Very youthful in the mouth, somewhat inexpressive. Bright red fruit at the fore, but good structure and acid behind. Should drink better in 2-3 years and could evolve even further from there.
