A short review might sound like this: milk chocolate in a perfect blend with Mexican chili. Of course, nothing is that simple in life, especially wine. Going deeper into this red, we will discover, first of all, aromas such as: black cherry, herbs, graphite (I almost forgot about this kind of smell). In general, the smell is a bit too shy and delicate. The taste, on the other hand, is powerful, resilient, very well defined. As I wrote above: sweet and very spicy. Black cherry, plum, coke. But on other hand all kinds of spice: cinnamon, black pepper, clove. Very long, sweet finish. What else can I say?
🍷🍷
After drinking second glass I think this lovely wine is too sweet for me, hence I will downgrade it from 95 to 91 . Sorry, but sugar won over spice and more important ( I forgot to mention it), tannins are to ripe and acidity is too mild to balance wine sweet notes. It may sound strange when I complain that the acidity and tannins are too mild. Usually we complain that they are too strong, but here there is really no harmony between all the elements. It is a pity because this wine is so close to perfection.

Medium dark ruby or garnet, probably garnet. Notes of plum, dried apricot, wet gravel or rocks, dried herbs or flowers, thyme or something. Well balanced, good acidity medium tannins, dry on the finish. Would be good to age 5 years or more hoping the acidity mellows a bit. High alcohol, stones or pebbles or something, I’m rambling. It’s my first chatenouf du pape and it’s really enjoyable in 2021.

Brookie and I drank this bottle tonight at The Oven east with lamb madras and malai kofta. The bottle was decanted for about 30 minutes before we started drinking it. Over the course of the meal the bottle opened nicely and showed it's personality, class, and potential. Great nose, smooth mid-palate, and very nice finish. Everything in balance. Olive, kirsch, tobacco, dark fruit, Brooke got hints of rose . . . ah Brookie!
For me, this is a "wow" wine, because of the completeness and complexity relative the price. I don't know that I have found a better value in CDP or in The Rhone for that matter. This is a very good wine for the money and my thought is that it will be better in a couple of years.

Rich and supple, with layers of sweet, ripe, juicy, red plums, cherries and kirsch, the wine is silky, fresh, juicy and lively, with length and sweetness in the spicy finish. The wine was made from a blend of 50% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre and 10% Cinsault. In time, this could be even better when it all comes together.
