Taste New Wines, Part 1 (San Diego Wine Co.): "The grapes used in this wine are mostly from very old bush vines, & underwent gentle crushing, traditional open tank fermentation, basket pressing, & oak maturation prior to bottling."
N: Closed, but seems a ripe melange of berries & earth; Intensity lurking?
P: LM, poss Med, body; RNDISH entry with NICE, almost swtish frt met by some astringent pucker which, without losing the init frt, slowly morphs into a LONG, still very, VERY slightly puckerish finish with a refined swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '19, then drinking for 4 yrs more? FANTASTIC stuff for the money! 14.2% ABV; My EXC, more down the line for the QPR of this vendor's $9.99, which is as good as any on wine-searcher. 90 pts & "Best Value" WS, and 87 WA.

(opened 1 hour ago) - color: medium-dark purple; nose: oak and cherry; taste: medium-bodied mouth feel, soft and slightly sweet taste with notes of cherry and vanilla, short-to-medium-length finish with black pepper notes, mild tannins; overall: easy to like, typical Aussie shiraz, very good QPR ($11/bottle at PA State Store), ready to drink as of October 2018, should pair well with grilled burgers. Will buy again!

Pleasant enough for the price; holding up for a 2016 but puckery in the mouth and a bit hot in the finish; better with food than alone

Pale purple color with slow legs. Nose of oak, blackberry and pepper. Plum, light toast and tea on the palate. Medium leathery finish. Very good QPR.

Nice little drinker. Nothing too complex , but has plenty of typical Australian Syrah notes.

This is an overbuilt wine with big fruit on the front, ok balance and fruit finish. I was totally unimpressed. Nothing came together in the wine.
