Nose: fresh tropical fruit juice (pineapple?) under a layer of cellophane.
Palate: bruised apple skin, with juuust enough acidity to buoy the richness from the oak aging. Some stony/rocky notes along with subtle tropical fruits.
Took an hour to start showing complexity then ended up a very enjoyable wine.

A very rich, ripe and full-bodied Grüner Veltliner. Baked apples, mango, stonefruits, dense and viscous mouthfeel and only medium acidity. Due to its ripeness it tastes older than it is. Lacks a bit of verve and freshness, but still highly enjoyable with the right food match. - 90 points

Very rich and very ripe, with a touch of oak and lots of peppery spice. I like it much better now than 1 1/2 years ago. Seems to have calmed down a bit. Lovely powerful GV. - 91 points

A very rich, ripe and full-bodied GV. This is almost too ripe for my palate. Baked apples, mango, stonefruits, grapefruit, dense mouthfeel and only medium acidity. Lacks a bit of verve and freshness. I currently prefer the normal Reserve to the Alte Reben Reserve in this vintage. - 89 points
