Tuesday Night Double Blind $80+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Dense opaque core with purple rim; tar, volatility, young, bordering on raisin, prune, textured, black fruit, black currant, chestnut, velvety tannins, sits on palate nicely, black licorice; the volatility was a bit much on day 1 but when revisiting on day 2 the balance was really beautiful, I guess this just needs some time.

Querciabella (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): Leather, earth, quite a herbaceous leafy notes, slight blackcurrant is meaty, savoury. the impression, on the nose, of a touch of sourness and slightly sharp underpin. Alcohol prickle. Medium plus intensity acidity is a little green on the palate. tight tannins prove a little hard, drying, chalky and green. alcohol warmth. Not very nice. Lacks balance.

Masterclass on SuperTuscan Wines with Querciabella (Zoom): Deep ruby, with fading, slightly orange edges. Strong coffee and cigarbox aromas for a start, and then the violet florals and cut grass emerge, with some black cherry. Soft silky tannins, and generally savoury meat flavours with blackberry, grass, cigarbox, thyme, and graphite. The coffee and cigarbox carries on to the finish

Spectacularly unspectacular. Not at all fruit forward and didn't have the beautiful finish all the ratings would have led me to expect.
