  • Simply amazing. The age here has done wonders for the development of this wine. The saline, mineral-driven characteristics of the Carricante are now moving towards a slightly oxidative, smokey, and petrol-like flavor. The length here is noteworthy, and there is plenty of depth and complexity to fascinate over with every sip.
This is continuing to develop, and I'm glad to have one more in my cellar that I intend to age further. I'd love to check this out in another 2-3 years.

  • Outstanding wine. A perfect match with steamed/grilled artichokes. Dry, minerally. Subtle and nuanced. This is the best Carricante I have ever had.

  • Tasted blind in week three of Blind.Faith’s blind-tasting competition: a red and a white from the same region. And being honest - this wine stumped me completely, I didn’t really know what it was, and seeing the reveal - I can understand why :-) Very pale gold hue with a watery rim. Aromas of yellow apple and maybe a little hint of creamy lemon. It’s delicate and restrained on the palate with a light body and low-ish alcohol. There is a mineral, leesey character and to me a hint of vanilla on the back of the palate. Good length, almost gains some intensity through the finish. I liked this but had no idea what it was: I went for a Hunter Semillon with some age. Clearly not very close!!

  • A Good Tuesday, Vol. VI: Italians (Benanti, Calafe, Produttori, Cornelissen, D&R, Quintarelli...: We must have had an off bottle. Actually two as the '12 on the table showed similar. Just not showing much. Muted. Reticent. Nothing like this wine should be and nothing like the previous notes in CT. Weird bottle.

  • Color is pale straw with some green. On the nose: lemon, white flowers, something saline. On the palate: Soft tart lemon, some stone fruits, some interesting salinity, hint of honey on the back, great acidity, length and mouthfeel. Flavors are broad. This is a very exciting wine and drinks very easily. I bought one bottle to try but have to find more. I drank a lot of Sicilian wines when I lived in Russia (as one could afford them). This is right at top of the list of Sicilian Whites I’ve tried.

  • Pale, lemon green color.

The nose imidetly takes you to a Mediterranean shoreline with sea breeze, salty rocks, dusty Mediterranean herbs, lemon zest, citrus oil, unripe peach and chalk dust. With time in the glass and rising temperature aromas of yeasty lees and orange blossom. Lovely nose.

Bone dry on the palate with ripping acidity and impressive intensity to the flavors. Great weight on the palate especially considering the 12% abv. Very stony flavors with warm rocks, sea breeze, chalk dusty and some zesty citrus and floral components. Really long and mouthwatering finish with a distinct saline note to it.

Just an extraordinary wine that taste so much of the place. Easily top 5 of the best Italian whites I've had. I would love to see where this goes a couple of years down the line.
