  • Coravin tasting. Followed a 2009 Piesporter Goldtropchen kabinett. Much more intense and maybe even complex on the nose. A little saffron, which I’ve gotten before in this and it’s on the palate also. Nice spice overall. Lovely clean finish, noticeably dry compared to the Piesporter. I much prefer this, more refreshing, tangy, lots of lemon and lime now. I don’t know if it will last as long as the Piesporter but much better for drinking now.

  • Coravin tasting. Beautiful riesling nose. Very floral, fruity, wonderful. Exactly what I like a riesling to smell like! On the palate, it is elegant, floral, nice acidity but not overly acidic, a hint of sweetness to balance it and quite long. Very delicate. Wonderful wine.
Now on the palate I get lots of stone fruit. The finish is a little acidic and a hint of something bitter, youthful and long.
Wow. I get that saffron type note again. Just a hint after some swirling.

  • Coravin tasting. Comparing against a Bürklin Wolf Pfalz Riesling 2016 and this is definitely more individual. An intriguing note of saffron — almost as if the wine reminds me of a dish I had with saffron before, ie with this wine. No idea if I have, I've only had this once or twice before. Really intriguing. Some chalkiness now, fruity, quite spicy. Really good. Very long. Makes the BW seem more alcoholic, even distilled. In fact it walks all over it. This is really excellent. Hadn’t expected a Lux Riesling to compare so favourably to a serious German Riesling ... but Palmberg is special 🇱🇺
