Decanted and drank over 1.5hrs. Nose opened up after 15mins and palate delicious at the 30min-60min mark representing a quintessential Coonawarra Cab. Then both dissipated at the end.

This bottle is seeming a bit flat to me. Everything is still pretty much there, but seems this bottle is over the hill just a bit. Wife doesn't fully agree with me but admits something "not quite right". I had better polish off the remaining bottles soon.

Still nicely in balance, but I think the tannin is starting to vanish. Cherries, big mouth feel, still enough acid to be lively but IO don't know how much longer it will last.

Big arches, turning brick red. Nice nose but can't think what it actually smells like. Quite bright on the palate, tannin still present. Getting maybe a little more acid than I want but fruit is there. Hotish on the gums. Cherry and maybe blackberry. All here like it, giving it an "excellent".

Pretty kick as bottle of wine that most people would mistake for a Napa Cab. In its drinking window but has legs to go longer.

Exceptionally smooth now, no harsh edges and still good fruit/acid balance. As noted elsewhere, 98 was a top year for Coonawarra.

This wine was a real pleasent surprise. Still very youthful. 98 is a great year for Coonawarra and this wine shows why.
