Day 1: This wine is finally opening up on the second glass. Cranberry, spice, mushrooms, minerals and red fruits. Medium plus finish. If you drink this on day 1 decant a few hours. 90 points Day 2: After the first glass not impressed but 2nd glass was good this is excellent for the value! Cranberry, cola, mild spices, mushrooms, red currants and underbrush. Complex Pinot Noir for under $25.00. This rivals the 14 in terms of quality. 91+ points Day 3: Nice on day 3 with floral, strawberry, cranberry, mild spices, mushrooms and underbrush. Medium finish and delicious. This is as good as the 14. 91 points Recommendation: Buy! For around $25.00 or less it is hard to find Pinot Noir this good.

A bit bright and acid straight out of the bottle, but aerated during a decant and let to sit for an hour, it mellowed very well into a more balanced balanced state, letting fruits and umami com forward. Paired with salmon and pasta. Choose your point on the bright to full spectrum.

A bit on the acid and tannic side for a California pinot noir, benefitted from decanting, the bit of acidity worked well paired well with duck breasts and montmorency cherries.

A nice weeknight surprise. I purchased this on a whim. Strawberry, raspberry lovliness. Light bodied. No mistaking this wine for anything other than a new world pinot noir. Went great with trout I caught earlier in the day and a vegie rice pilaf.

Medium-light ruby, with some hints of orange. Aromas of raspberry, hints of orange, floral honey, and forest floor. Medium-light bodied, silky texture, zest red fruit and citrus on the palate, with earthy undertones and a hint of pepper in the finish. Elegant and graceful.

Nose with fragrant crushed rose petals and red fruits. Tastes of upfront dark cherry, raspberries, pomegranate. Followed with pinches of spice (clove?). Gentle touch of oak (9 months new oak, 15% new). Juicy fruit cut with nice acidity and a touch of salinity in the finish. Nice mouthfeel especially in the mid palate. Medium finish with just a light touch of hotness (13.5% per label which seems right). I think it can benefit from short term aging. The first time I had a maritime Sonoma Coast PN was over 10 years ago during a wine pairing dinner at Hatfields. I remember thinking about how the acidity worked really well to pair with the food. Nice to revisit a wine from Fort Ross Winery after all these years.

Fort Ross comes from Whaling days. 2nd tasting of the day, opened 2 hours ago. Opened up to really bright strawberry, pommegranate, florals. Acid is bright, tannins are fine, oak is minimal, mouthfeel is lean but continues along really well, and works in an electric way across the palate.

proof for tasting. Light, ripe red fruit. Second time having this one, I like the nose a lot. Briht cherry and perfectly ripe red plum transfers over to palate. Bright acidity, fine fruit tannin, shows well across mid palate, good wine.

Cool climate pepper and earth notes, like a German Pinot in a way. And some soft fruit in the middle and then a touch of grip but not much.
