this is a very good mourvedre wine, which you get a fruit forward medium plus bodied wine, mark herold does a good job with a single varietal grape that may not be for everyone

Hot garbage. This wine sucks hard. I'll admit I'm not a new world / bold / in your face kind of wine guy. But sometimes I'll take a flyer on a big red from LB during a marathon, and sometimes they work out pretty well, particularly for drinking outside on a cool evening. In fact during the last marathon I bought some of Herold's Acha, tempranillo based blend and it was actually pretty good. So I took a chance on this, expecting something similar. Cue last night, first really cool night of the year, and I grab this bottle. Wow. Trash. Just a wall of oak and completely muddled fruit. Maybe this will improve after a few days of being open and I'll revise this, but I'm not hopeful.

Smooth, rich and full body. Dark fruit dominates with a little bit of red cherry and strawberry coming in on the finish. Balanced with bright acidity and a juicy mouthfeel.

Unfortunately this was our last bottle. Good color, aroma and viscosity. Excellent with food and as a dessert.
