  • Where have the iodine notes and savoury character gone? I wouldn't recognise this wine from my memory and previous TN. And it is better. More recognisably from Chardonnay with a delightful fragrance, minerality and gently saline backbone which paired beautifully with scallops and with goat cheese and even stood up to Stilton even though that combination is not ideal. Very good.

  • I wonder how useful it is to place varietal information (in this case Chardonnay) on the front label of a French appellation wine. I could have been fooled about this one and people relying on the variety even more so. As it was it took me two or three sips to eliminate my Chardonnay expectation and adjust to the breezy apple tinged fruit and iodine sprinkled minerals. Then I began to appreciate its lively generous savoury character with fresh acidity and backbone which made for a good pairing for swordfish. Good.
