At 2 hours decant the texture already started to round out but the fruit was a bit off. Day 2 in the decanter the mouthfeel was excellent but the fruit had a bit more to go. Day 3 the fruit was on but the mouthfeel was minutely diminished. Days 4-6 virtually no degradation. Tonight is Day 7 and this wine owes me nothing else. Excellent.

Tasted over three days...and I am glad I did...as the first and second days the wine featured excessive oak treatment, which overwhelmed all other elements. Had it at 91 points.
The third day revealed a very pretty wine. In no way tightly wound or reticent, but exceptionally enjoyable. Lacking the depth and structure to approach a score in the mid to high 90s. Will hold my other bottle for a while. 92-93.
The nose showed wonderfully fresh black fruits, sweet violet florals and spice. On the palate, I found velvety smooth textures, blackberry, stone fruits, and zesty spices with vibrant acidity, energizing acidity. The finish was long with ripe black fruits, dark chocolate, spicy citrus and hints of round tannin.

I had the opportunity to spend 3 days tasting this, and a 2016 Quinta de Roriz, cask sample. The color of this was consistently darker than the Quinta de Roriz. The nose stayed very tight over the course of tasting this, only giving up a more blueberry component. Excellent depth, lush berries, menthol, silky chocolate, plenty of tannics and acidity and fantastic structure that melds it all together with a long finish. This really opened up at the end of day 2 and continued to reach it's best on day 3. This is a fantastic Vintage Port and one that will age along with other tops of the vintage. 94-95 Points
