My recommendation — decant for 1 to 2 hours. To explain: this was my first non-sweet semillon. Upon opening it smelled oxidised and I was worried it would be going down the sink. However, I persevered because the colour was less orange / brown than I would have expected for an oxidised wine. I think it took about 2 hours (out of the fridge) to sort itself out. Peachy, orangey, lightly nutty finish, very interesting to try. Paired surprisingly well with monkfish in Thai green curry with lots of fresh coriander. I would buy again but probably not in great quantity.

Enjoyed this a little less than last time, showed a little more oxidative with some bruise red apples, nutty, spiced cider and beautiful pronounced minerals! Palate has a round rich mouthfeel with medium acidity and a nice finish

Eye: bright yellow. Nose: tangerine, floral, aromatic, very pleasant. Palate: crisp, moderate acidity, full body, long finish… is that all? Nope. Nice fruit of apples and citrus but yet very well balanced and structured. My best white wine.. ever? Hmmm

Oinoscent crew day out mayhem: The wine shows ripeness of fruit, citrus, honey, a touch earthy, honeycomb Palate shows medium body, low to medium acidity, ripe fruit, citrus and pear, a bit tight as it is, green apple, medium to long finish Strange but interesting

Liquid fruit drops ! The cheap ones ! A bit freshness, little acid and length. But most of all : Onedimensional Fruit drops. Concentrated , slightly sweet and dropsy . Not my wine ! Was my first 100 % semillon. Maybe the last ???

Dinner with Cathy and invited winemakers (Somerset West): Franschhoek on sandy soils, the grapes were planted in the early 1920s, and the vineyard is from 1936. Matured in 4-year-old barrels. 2004 bottles under Diam cork. Fairly expressive nose exhibiting lots of dried pear, golden apple, yellow flowers and gentle spices (more nutmeg than cinnamon) with a twist of lemongrass. The palate entry is more orange and orange/tangerine peel, again straw or hay with yellow apple flesh, all with a heightened purity of flavour. The wine delivers complexity and fabulous concentration that lingers to a persistent farewell. There is power with restraint and some punch to the flavour profile. Fantastic! 94-95
