Light yellow, on 👃 fresh lemon zest, cashews, bananas (inside), light seashell (shell of oyster), lilacs. Very dry, super acidic, strong lemon & prune with long delicious finish.

Very light in color. Very fragrant nose with citrus and vanilla. Palate shows just the right acidity, with lemon curd, clementines, custard crème, spice. Some tannins, oaky ending.
A very elegant, polished, lithe wine. Young still, but eminently drinkable and thoroughly enjoyable. A treat.

Has such an over-the-top nose and one that I’d be glad if I never smelled again. Durian fruit, mango, gooseberry and petrol. Rich, unctuous and round. Very little acidity.

Light silver straw colored, full bodied, crisp, seductive, exotic dry white with dense rich notes of tropical fruits - peach, mango, pineapple, yellow apple and lemon peel, with fine acidity on the smooth balanced finish. https://unwindwine.blogspot.com/2023/05/pour-boys-winers-diners-23-cityscape.html

This is a fruit-driven, vibrant, opulent wine, ripe side of tropical fruits like pineapple, passionfruit, rambutan, mangosteen, gentle wafts of durian and lily flower. On the palate, rich, lush, layered and waxed mouthfeel. Nicely refined and structured. Length is so impressive, goes on for minutes. Paired perfectly with oysters, razor clam, escargot. Drinking deliciously today but giving a few more years should integrate even better.

Grassy and acidic upon open. I'd give this more time or a serious decant. Came back to it a few times over a 3 hour period. Much more approachable with 30 mins of air and even better with 3 hours. This is a food wine and is a bit bracing on its own. I'd definitely say I enjoyed this wine though I do think this is a case of drinking the label a bit because there are equally good white BDX at much more approachable price points.

Peach and white flower dominated; pleasant if not compelling. An early harvest starting in August, the earlier on record for Ygrec - a record then broken in 2020 and again in 2021.

From magnum, this was too young. Showed grassy Sauvignon Blanc notes, none of the nuance or texture of more mature examples. The potential is here, but in the magnum format this should have at least another 3-5 years to rest.

Wines from wife Oshino Dinner. Tasted blind. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, lemon colour. Legs. Nose is clean, pronounced intensity, with aromas of green mangoes, passionfruit, grapefruit, exotic tropical fruits. Developing. On the palate, dry, rounded high acidity, medium alcohol, (14.5%) medium body. Medium flavour intensity, with flavours of well judged light oak, tropical exotic fruits, passionfruit, grapefruit, sweet rock melon, stony minerality in the background. Nice long finish. Very good quality. Quite controlled on the palate, interesting as it comes after the exuberant nose. Highly enjoyable and should continue to do so as it develops over the next few years. 75% Sémillon, 25% Sauvignon Blanc.

A spunky little sass monster. Right upon opening this wine had tons of tropical fruits like pineapples, mangos and guavas just oozing from the bottle. Once poured into glass it calmed down slightly and showcased more of the citrus/light honey character. It has lively acidity that really paired oh so so well with shucked oysters and sashimi. Wonderful clean and linear notes of lime, pineapple, lemongrass and peaches that finishes quite dry. It’s rather good already, but I see a great future for those willing to wait it out.

Vinetasters: Sauvignon Blanc (Skokie, IL): Served double blind. Extremely heighted cat pee notes, with some lychee and plenty more cat pee on the palate. The sweetness here doesn't work at all, and makes this wine taste like some sort of mass-produced industrial wine. Lacks complexity. Seeing the reveal on this was extremely disheartening. The château really should just stick with their one wine. My 9th, group's 10th.

Château d'Yquem dinner with Sandrine Garbay (Restaurant Zoldering, Amsterdam, NL): A blend of 75% Sauvignon Blanc (harvested early) and 25% Sémillon (with a hint of surmaturité), aged in Yquem barrels “d’un vin”. Clearly marked Sauvignon Blanc character, pyrazines of a hint of tropical fruit, gently resinous oak, relatively light in body and style, energetic and crisp, seems less ripe and rounded than other recent vintages.

Initially forbidding on the nose: strong scent of grapefruit, granite, lemon. There was an edge of sulphur that blew off quickly. This does not prepare you for the rich taste: pineapple, ginger, Meyer lemon, green apple. I initially served this quite cold; with a little less chill and a little more air the bouquet opened up to include florals and wet grass. Overall this is terrific and a very different experience from other white Bordeaux. Strong acidity. Many years ahead of it. Wow. Score: 94-95. Relative to expectations: ++

Simply outstanding quality

Mother of God...this may be one of the most singular wines I’ve had in 2019. A pale yellow in the glass. This leads with rich & layered scents of dehydrated pineapple, candied ginger, lemon curd, with lifted and intense floral notes that seem to weave in & out between rich fruit scents. The palate is light-medium bodied, with rich notes of tropical fruits that are layered and famed by a lovely acidity w/ a long finish. This epic wine has redefined my understanding of Bordeaux Blanc and is a wine I can see myself seeing to buy more each year. Near perfect...
Impeccable balance, soft and sturdy all at the same time. Green apple, shortbread cookies, and Meyer lemon oil sum this up for me. This was a very remarkable wine. At $159 it's also comes with a remarkable price tag, but that didn't seem to stop the consumers, it sold out.

Very floral and open on the nose. The new oak is still too dominant on the palate but there is wonderful purity on the ripe semillon, like a cross between lychee and honey dew melon which gently fills the mouth. Most enjoyable!

A splash of freshness in the glass, the wine pops with loads of just-squeezed grapefruit, lemon peel, vanilla, line, passion fruit, tangerine and honeysuckle. Vibrant and juicy on the palate, all this needs is fresh seafood to make a perfect pairing.

This is easily my favorite vintage of Y to date. The 2017 was gorgeous from start to finish, displaying a rich and zesty bouquet of lemon curd mixed with ripe crushed apple, spiced orange, and sweet herbs. It was soft and silky on the palate, made vibrant through stunning brisk acidity, with notes of rich citrus tones, ripe stone fruits, sweet herbs, and mounting mineraltiy, which defined the incredibly long finish, where a caking of minerals seemed to slowly crackle and dissolved, leaving sweet and sour tropical citrus. Wow, just wow!
