A bottle with unknown provenance but fill into neck and a good cork. The wine seems to be in the last quarter of its lifecycle, but after some time in the glass it turned out to be a pleasurable drink. The colour is a dark ruby at the core with significant browning at the rim. The nose is initially dominated by nail polish, wet dog and tree bark, however with some time a beautiful perfume of sweet dark fruit unfurls to create the autumnal melange of an aged Bandol. In the mouth the wine starts a bit flat but definitely gains in volume after an hour or two, becoming quite expansive on the midpalate and showing some traces of not resolved tannin on the finish. A nice surprise from a gift bottle, nonetheless it seems about time to drink up.

Dark magenta in the glass. Tobacco shed on the nose. Medium bodied with tobacco, cherry and earth on the palate. To me this is textbook Bandol, and spot on at 15 years of age. Excellent.

Very dark, inky violet. Dark berries, game, liquorice, and earth on the nose. Black fruit, medium acidity, and elegant tannins on the palate. While there is a pleasing gaminess, I wouldn't call this bretty. Nicely aged.

Discret au nez mais en bouche, surtout avec l'aération, c'est plein de fruit, c'est rond, long avec des pointes de cerises au marasquin. Pas du tout anguleux, les tannins sont bien intégrés.

bretty nose, very expressive with barnyard scents, and thick berries, rustic flavors of cherry and game, masculine and refined, earthy nuances carry away on the finish, medium weight, well balanced

Brought this wine back from a trip to Provence and now struggling to find a UK supplier. This is an absolutely cracking wine, the aromas are rubber and rosemary with just a touch of fruit. The flavours are herby and meaty but settle as you swallow into a smooth black fruit finish. Excellent.

Chez Papa, San Francisco - We had a bottle of this for lunch we shared among 5 people, so the bottle didnt last that long. I had the lamb and I chose the lamb specifically because of the bandol. WOW. I wish this bottle had time to open up, I want to see what this tastes like with a little more air time. But having said that, this wine was absolutely fantastic, soft, not a lot of tannins. Just a great wine. I can't say enough good things about this. going out to buy some this weekend.

A blend of mourvèdre, grenache and cinsault. A very stinky nose – very rubbery with fresh horse poo and black fruit. Fresh, clean attack. Complex and well structured on the palate. Very concentrated on the finish. Very, very long.
