Much better than the previous bottle. No green notes at all. Much more harmonious. Nice tart red minerally fruit. Reasonable complexity. Excellent value.

Believe the hype. One of the best Beaujolais wines to be had for a great price. Red fruit, earthy tones, asian spices, and gorgeous perfumed floral notes. The wine dances on your palate with the gracefulness of a balerina. Enjoyable with a variety of food and easy ( maybe too easy) to put away 😄

Popped and poured. Sharp cherry aroma. Rich, sappy flavors of cherry and plum, with sweet plum moving to prominence in the finish. Fresh, young, primary, firm backbone, some complexity. A joy to drink right now, will likely become more interesting in the future. Outstanding QPR.

Kind of a weird nose that has hints of band aids and a bit of a green note. Tastes better than it smells. Crunchy, cranberry red fruits. A tad austere.

Crystalline ruby. Little bits of violet over red fruit on the nose. Light body, medium acidity with berries, figs and plums. Chugging with a plate of chilaquiles.

Surprisingly serious bojo with great QPR. Dark fruited attack, quickly yielding to mouthwatering crancherry acidity, chalky tannins, some iron, and dried flowers. The black fruit (dried figs) make a reappearance on a long finish. Surprisingly tannic for a base bojo. 12.5% and did not go through carbonic maceration. Gosh, need more of this.
Edit: this is not a Nouveau as suggested by a previous taster noted. There’s 2 different cuvees of L’Ancien VV and this is the regular bottling.

Très beau 2018. Nez fruité et cette belle note de cuir typique du style de Jean-Paul Brun. Pas de note végétale. Les notes suivent en bouche et bel équilibre fruit/acidité/alcool. Prix tout à fait raisonnable.

Synthetic cork. No sign of seepage.
Nothing bad, nothing great. A rather ordinary, austere showing, probably due to how young it is.
Good value.
