Really liked this. Very fine and pure. Medium bodied. Plenty fine cherry fruits, mushroom, forest floor. Good acidity, opens out nicely and quite expansive. Decent length. Lovely with La Potiniere duck breast at home.

Light fruit up front with a very long finish. Enjoyed this medium to full bodied burgundy which took a while to open up. The remainder half bottle will be tasted in several days and looking forward to seeing whether the additional time will bring forth more fruit favors.

Nose a bit vegetal at first but plumped out after an hour. Classic, pure pinot fruit. Elegant tannins and a long finish. Stylish, elegant wine. Have 3 more bottles and will decant a couple of hours in advance next time.

A Night of Nuits (Nicolas's): Mmm it suffered the comparison with the Chevillon 02 Vaucrains that was before. It seemed a bit disjoint and did not seemed well balanced. Might have been OK by itself.

Lovely, clean aromas of pinot, underwood, pine and earth. Some toasty oak, which is swallowed by the powerful fruit. Nice soft tannins and great acidity.

Consistent with py previous notes but more mature and with more complex aromatics. A great wine with a long future ahead of it still. From now until 2016.

Blind Pinot Noir Tasting (Roberts House): rusty rim. nose shows tobacco, mustiness, and pine. moderate tannins on this, but not enough fruit to carry it through. finish is a little watery, but does linger.

Pinot Noir: Burgundy vs. New World (Our House (2033 Brandywine St., Philadelphia)): A very well made wine. Clearly old world when tasted single blind on the initial go round. Funk on the nose, forest floor, mushrooms and spice. Really loamy. Well made on the palate. Great tannic structure with perfectly balanced acidity. Muted fruit. The finish is a bit watery. On the second go round, after we tasted blind through all the wines, this did not show as well due to the watery palate and finish. Very well made wine.

Served blind. Open for a half hour before it was poured for me. I found it to be quite soft and feminine, which led me south. It didn't have great intensity, but there was a solid core of attractive fruit and a rusticity that should have been the marker. I guessed '01/02 Volnay 1er Cru. Took maybe an hour before becoming really expressive. Ripe red berry fruit, moderate oak, balanced and ready to drink.

Exquisite wine, which explodes in a beautiful bouquet of herbs and flowers. Wonderful fruit-driven palate, with fascinating acidity and impecable structure. Excellent integration between red fruit and oak. Drinking very well now, I advise against extended aeration, as the wine leaps into life right out of the bottle. A wine for lovers of Red Burgundy. Drink from now until 2016.

Åpen og harmonisk NsG med tydelige jordbærtoner på duft. Smak av mørke bær og salt lakris. Lang ettersmak, fast struktur og god syre.
En høydare.

Dark for an '02, probably needed more time. Nice, bit of shoe polish (oak?)
