  • This one was disappointing. Previous bottles were solid bodied with good texture. This one was flat and a little sweet.

  • I have had several bottles of this and now think it might be the best $7 wine ever to cross my palate. I've bumped my prior review score up a notch (for what that's worth). Great QPR.

  • If you like Grenache, you owe it to yourself to try a bottle of this. Excellent QPR on this one, found at Trader Joe's for $7.

  • Garnet in color and clear; Aromas of cherry, leather, vanilla, and baking spice on the nose; Tart cherries, earthiness, and oak on the palate; Medium body, medium acidity, medium tannins; long one minute plus finish. Great rustic, spicy and distinctive Garnacha from the Catalayud region of Spain.

  • This is wonderful for a $7 wine. Not sweet, a little salty. Lots of fruit.

  • Private Preserve after Day 1

N: FRAGRANT wild straws with flowers (violets?); Undertones of earth?

P: Med body; RNDISH entry with NICE, ALMOST swtish frt met by an astringent pucker which pretty much resolves by the LONG, very, VERY slight bitterish, slightly spicy finish with ULT a tangy/swtness to the fairly fine, yet dusty tannins. // Day 2: N: A creaminess (oak??), earth, poss pyrazines? Hints of oxygenation? P: Med body; ALMOST swtish frt quickly met by an astringent pucker which DOES *quite* drop off as it shows some pleasantness to the dusty tannins. A reasonable evolution for Day 2... except this was a POOR match for take-out Lasagna in Tom Sauce, a entree which has proven challenging for other wines in the past. ∑: TJ's (only?™) @ $6.99; Taste 8/10, Cost 9, & a "Bulk Buy" from reversewinesnob.com (4/6/19). 14.5% ABV; My VG/VG+.

™"Evaki Imports" is listed as the importer, though since their website doesn't show it, perhaps they import this EXCLUSIVELY for Trader Joe's?

  • Not bad for $7 wine; has a great nose of red fruit cake and just a touch of menthol. There's a little earthy quality, although that's partially the noticeable alcohol, which is a little sharp. Unfortunately, the palate doesn't really live up to the nose; it's pretty thin, muted fruit cake with very, very low levels of both tannin and acid. Wines don't need both to be great, and they don't need to have tons of either to work, but this was honestly watery. It did brighten a bit on day 2, but the alcohol was also way more out-of-wack, so it was a trade-off.
Still kept reaching for another glass, and I don't hate the faintly bitter finish. Good for the price, as you get some nice fruit, although I couldn't help but compare it to Honoro Vera Garnacha (same region, same price) that was similar but deeper and much more satisfying.
