  • Opened in Hong Kong. P&P, but enjoyed slowly over a few hours.

Not sure what to make of this wine. I was expecting something a bit more forwardly seductive, but this was quite dark and brooding. Quite smokey, the fruits were subdued and needed a bit of air to coax out - and even then they weren't too expressive, and had a mix of red and dark fruit together. Good minerality, acidity, structure and clean overall (befitting of no stems I guess) but not the most immediately enjoyable wine.

For my preferences, hovering in between a 90 and a 91, and decided to be generous in the end. This will probably loosen up a bit and hopefully be a bit more forthcoming with fruit, but that being said I'm not sure I'd pay current prices to experiment again. Better wines at lower prices, or pay a bit more for something like a Roumier/Mugnier CM Village. But maybe that's just me.

  • Youthful, elegant, light on its feet, clean and pure. Easy to drink. A joy. 91+

  • Youthful. Though youthful, it's approachable and with medium tannin. Red fruits, flora.
