Out of magnum. Very crisp acidity on the nose right after opening, with some brioche and toasted sourdough notes, and a hint of kiwi. Definite bright acidity at the front of the palate, which was then softened by papaya and Meyer lemon flavors. It also had an almost Chablis-like minerality. I suspect this will definitely improve with age.

The 2017 Kistler Trenton Roadhouse has all the characteristics of a terrific Sonoma Coast Chardonnay: very acidic, lots of sea salt, lots of lemon and lime citrus. This still needs 4+ years to settle down, but it should be fabulous.

Wine was popped and poured after refrigeration for a couple of hours. We have had the 2014 and 2016 Trenton Roadhouse but not the 2017. Tasting note taken after about an hour open and a glass (or maybe two).
Wine is a clear, bright lemon color of moderate concentration.
On nose, touch of stone fruit, candied pineapple, spice (clove?), salinity. Feels like a chablis dialed up to eleven.
On palate, wine is sound. High alcohol, medium-high acid, touch of residual sugar, long finish. Not super viscous despite the alcohol, and it's overall really nicely balanced.
This is just a great wine. I love Kistler and this is a great example. I have recently been overwhelmed by some other overtly potent yet high-quality California chardonnays and was wondering if I just don't like them any more. No, I'm wrong. I do like them - when they have some finesse. Like this one!

My preferred wine in a lineup of 5 Kistler Chards from 2016/2017. This had the best confluence of ripe stone fruit, balanced acidity, warm nutty tones with a long vanillin finish. From a little plot up the hill from the tasting room. Beautiful wine that exemplifies the house style.

Kistler is my favorite American wine. I recently bought six different 2017 vineyards and decided to start with this one. I opened it on my 35th wedding anniversary so it already had that going for it, but honestly on any day of the year it would make me swoon. It has beautiful citrus notes, a tiny poof of smoke, a pinch of pineapple and it's not too in your face buttery if you catch my drift. Can't wait to open the second of the six vineyards to see how it compares. Chardonnay Cheers!

Slight reduction, lemon oil and gravel minerals. Resolved oak with touch of sweetness/richness and good acidity. Playful and elegant weight. Still one of the best Chard producers in CA.

Golden color. Sulphur, lemon, butterscotch. Not as heavily oak-and-butter as Dutton, Hudson, McCrae.

Excellent wine that improved with time in the glass. May even be worth decanting.

A very nice and complex Chardonnay. A little bit of sweetness that would pair quite well with seafood.
