Weekly tasting group #210; Bordeaux: the lesser gods. (@ WW): Beautiful bouquet with dark forest fruits, sweet spices, smoke, some luxurious oak, toast, forest floor and mushrooms. On the palate dark berries, chocolate, sweet spices like cinnamon, toast and coffee. This wine is at its perfect peak now and a great pleasure to drink.

Very nice indeed for the vintage and price. Typical, well-made Medoc. Dark cherries, some tobacco, even some fig jam that was a bit unexpected. Judicious treatment w/ oak. Super solid weeknight Bx. This has aged very well and still has another 5+ years in it.

PNP, Big, rich, dark, mondern style medoc, loads of blackberries, plums, still tannic, with hints of vanilla. Not sure of the blend, but I would guess merlot is the dominate grape. This bottle was much better that the previous tasted 9/09 and based on this one still has plenty of life left.

Ganz weich und harmonisch, gut eingebundene Tannine. Schöne Aromen von Kirsche und schwarzen Joahnnisbeeren - hat Freude gemacht und Lust auf die nächste Flasche.

Pop and pour. You immediately notice the brett on the nose and some oak. Still some very young fruit underneath it all. A little bit green and a hint under-ripe, typical of the vintage when I tried these young.

Deep purple color with an earthy nose that is part grape, part barn yard. Well integrated tannins with dark dried cherry, ripe blackberry fruit, cedar, thick mocha, and a hint of tobacco. The terroir is evident. While not too complicated this wine evolves in the glass and is drinking very nice right now.

Medium garnet. Nice cedary cabernet nose with animal and botanic notes and some bread-yeast aromas also. Very nice to drink now, ripe and velvety texture, medium body and satisfying aftrtaste.

Drank with Tim and Nancy with pork chops and portabello toppings. wine was excellent but rather simple. nicely balanced for food as before and satisfied my taste for a bordeaux. Still available and worth the money.

Decated for 30min, opened this on Saturday nite and found the nose to be quite nice earthy and spcey, the palate however was marred by strong bitter wood flavors, like chewing on the inside of a walnut shell. Poured back into the bottle and corked it, tried again on Tuesday. The bitterness had subsided somewhat, with still a nice nose, red fruit on the palate with earth, vanilla and still a little bitterness. Strong and dijointed. Rating based on Tuesday, still have another bottle left in the cellar, which I feel in no hurry to drink.

If you have some, go ahead and open it up. It may still get better, but why risk it. This is drinking well now, and there are plenty of other Bordeaux to collect for the long haul.

Plush and round, with soft blackberry and dark cherry flavors and subtle undertones of black olive, cinnamon and mocha. As another reviewer noted, it treads the line between Old World and New. The tannins are very soft and acidity is low; it's all hanging together rather elegantly at the moment but feels like it could disintegrate soon. As CellarTracker would say: "time to drink up."

Nice entry level Bordeaux. Would please those that love Bordeaux as well as new world wine drinkers. Slight earthiness on nose with dried cherries, warm spices, and herbs. Cedar and warm spices on the palate with red plums and cherries, mild tannins, and nice acidity. Not the most complex, but a pretty good example of a nice Bordeaux.

the wine began very bitter and tannic but it took only a half hour of decanting to open up, full aroma of ripe fruit and autumn, the flavor rounded out and moves across the palate with dark earth, dark berries, and chewy structure, easy drinking but a full and fleshy wine, there is a nice lingering finish continuing on the earth theme, the wine could use some cellaring but overall is a solid Bordeaux for the price ($21), by the way, this wine doesn't pair with lasagna as well as any Italian red would do, it was part of a pairing experiment, but the matching with this wine should be left for a leg of lamb or a seasoned steak.

Very deep purple in color, almost a glossy thickness to it. Slow moving but not abundant legs. You can see the legs reflecting in the wine. Mixed berries and earthy tones with subtle chocolate on the nose. Slight buttery/creamy mouth feel. Liquorice, followed by oak and a bit of spice on the tongue. Finishes with a bit more bitter tannins than I would like, hitting firmly and solo a few seconds after swallowing. Swishing this one in your mouth leaves a tingle for over 15 minutes. A very good wine for the price that is likely a few years from being at its best. I am going to pick up a couple more and wait 2-5 years. 87-89 would be my best guess, but I am anxious to see if it impresses me more in the future.

Rubi escuro.
