Weber Vineyard is perhaps the purest Dundee Hills Pinot Noir that we have. This is a quintessential old vine, Worden Hill Road Pinot Noir that reaches back into the history of Oregon. In our dozen years working with this vineyard it has routinely produced one of the top wines each vintage. In 2017 it was certainly the most deft and elegant of the wines we made, although it has a sly structure that belies both its lighter appearance and silky fruit quality. Over the last couple of years we have been working out what sort of whole cluster fermentation regimen works best with this gorgeous fruit. In 2017, 8 barrels were selected from the 40% whole cluster ferments and 5 from the 100% whole cluster fermentation which was done in a 2.5 ton fermenter as opposed to the 1.75 ton fermenters the rest of the fruit went to. This is not an especially dark wine, but it is flush with red fruit and floral aromatics that are common from this area, but have not necessarily been on display recently in the warmer vintages we now experience. There is a wealth of spice and a firm tannin structure to this wine, and an unexpected turn in power especially given how long it holds the delicacy of the wine’s flavors together on the finish. This is complete, age-worthy and unique all while still being a distinctly an old vine Dundee Hills wine.

Similar to the bottle we had last week. A very nice pinot noir. Red fruit on the nose, the palate was red plum, cranberry with hints of spice and the a moderate to long finish.

Yum. Even better than my last bottle. I am in love with OR '17. On the nose: wild strawberry, compote, asian spice, plum. On the palate, good acidity, wild strawberry, plum, soft tannin on the very clean finish.

Wanted to try one of these 2017s. This is very nice with about 1 hr open. Nose showing wild strawberry, cranberry compote, some baking spice and apple pie. On the palate, soft, but intense. Excellent acidity, low octane density: loads of tang, but no heat, showing a touch of crushed chewable vitamin, cranberry and a soft tannic finish, which is really intense yet elegant.

One of the highlights of the tasting and a benchmark for the Dundee Hills appellation. Located on Jory soil, this vineyard was planted solely with 100% Pommard. This wine had both a serious yet joyful side. On the nose, I found aromas of wild red strawberries and floral characteristics, yet on the palate, I found a slightly more serious gamy side, yet with that pleasant uplift of fruit and spice cake which gave the wine a structured and elegant finish. This is one for the cellar.

Light and airy. Macerated strawberry color/not quite clear. Aromatic wine with cherry notes and a bit of saline. Light on its feet, quite fresh, moderate concentration. Well poised.

A very feminine Pinot rather red fruited in nature. Loads hood strawberries with silky texture. Bordering on being lean but quite pretty as well.
