55F since acquiring on release - Medium transparent red - ready aromas of sweet ripe strawraspcherries - florally lifted - energetic on palate - a complete pleasure to drink - not one hard edge - not one thing to excuse or wait for - point scale is limiting as this wine is faultless to my palate but I guess for it being on the lighter side I’ll arbitrarily put a 96 on it.

Transparent iridescent ruby - fresh rasp/strawberry, floral and herbal elements, peppery energetic liveliness on palate - no kirsch or licorice or olive notes to be found. Really excellent juice. I like this style of CdP. Glad I have multiples.

Tuesday Night Double Blind $50+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): See through ruby; juicy nose, tart red fruit, raspberry, sour and dusty cherry, a bit brutal and young showing muscular acids, tea, herbal backend; Burgundian but elegant CdP.

Holy Moly BYOB Dinner (Burlamacco Ristorante): Medium ruby, viscous, and bright. Aromas of purple florals, ripe cherry, pepper and grass. Mouthwatering acids and tannins that bite, with ripe cherry flavours, pepper, and a bit of rustic barnyard, and hint of nuts. A fair length, and fairly complex at the back

During a year end dinner. We tried this as we heard that they make a Rayas style CdP. While it was not evident from an aromatic point of view, since the wines were too young, we could confirm that there is airiness in these wines like you see with Rayas. The 2017 Guigasse, 93pt, was the lightest, showing lots of ripe red fruit with some garrigue, a bit simple a this stage but with good potential. The 2017 Le Grand Pin had more structure, some dark fruits as well and was the favorite at the table 95pt.

WEA Chapelle St. Theodric Zoom tasting. Drank in Gabriel Standart. Appearance is clear, pale intensity, ruby colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium intensity, with aromas of dark red cherries, garrigue, earth, leather, dark spice, white pepper. Developing. On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium+ alcohol (13.5%), silky high tannins, full body Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, very concentrated strawberries and raspberries - almost compote, young polished leather, garrigue, earth, white pepper and sweet spice, sweet herbs, maybe some mineral thrown in also. Very complex. Very long finish. Outstanding quality. Wow what a great 100% Grenache CdP. And drinking so well so young. Doesn't need a whole lot of age. Drink and enjoy over next 4-5 years. Quite different (alcohol level also) from the 2016 vintage of the same plot.

Luscious, spicy, fresh, sweet dark, red fruits, pepper, herbs and olives are on the nose and palate. The finish offers freshness with tapenade stained cherries. The wine is made using 100% old vine Grenache.

Dinner with Florentino Grangeon, Co owner of Cristia/Theodoric (La Fete): Candied cherry, plum, jammy notes, full tannins, med body, high alcohol, forest floor, darker in color compared to Cristia from the earlier flight.
