  • I’ve been surprised with some 2014 Brunello I have been tasting lately. Considering the very vintage, many producers didn’t even make a Brunello or Rosso di Montalcino, the wines I’ve had were actually surprisingly enjoyable.
This Tassi Brunello wasn’t the best, but still worthwhile of writing notes on it.

Medium ruby-red color. Initially some strong reduction smells on the nose but this blew of in 10 minutes or so. What remained was aroma’s of sour cherry, some Indian spices and hints of leather. The palate was medium bodied with some good balance of fresh acidity and fine tannins. The finish is medium long.

It is probably a bit too lean to develop in any meaningful way but it still has some unmistakable classic Brunello profile. Drink now.
