Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club": Pinot Noir; Cote d´Or (@ BD): The bouquet is still a bit locked, but also rustic and shows cherries, raspberries and dark fruits. On the palate fresh red fruits like cherries and raspberries, a hint of leather. Good acidity and sticky tannin.

The bottle itself is fancy, heavy glass with a deep punt. The wine is gaining weight, but not much individuality compared to a Michel Gros HCDN of the same vintage. It does have the blue fruit nose of the cote de units, but not much complexity. The case came from wine access for $40 per bottle but drinks in the $30/35 class IMO. I’ll keep a couple bottles back but expect to drink the remainder this winter.

I was a little disappointed in this bottle. I am a fan of Patrice Rion and of the 2017 vintage but the combination didn't work here. Shy on the nose and palate, it didn't have the beautiful pure fruit that I've liked in other 2017s. Mid-palate and finish were a little soft. It was better on day 2, a touch more concentrated, so hopefully this was just a phase.

A pretty nose of aniseed and cherry. There’s good presence and depth in the mouth. The finish is stony.
