PnP. Medium deep red. Nose of dark red fruits, spice, and forest floor. This has continued to evolve where the fruit is more subsumed within the mineral structure of the wine. Very complex and maintains a tension/balance which is excellent. This will keep for a few more years I would guess but don't know if it will improve. Very good.

Popped and poured. Medium deep red with a touch of lightening on the edge. Lovely mineral nose accompanied with boysenberry and spice. On the palate this is quite rich but balanced with a tension from the underlying structure which makes it intense without being at all over ripe or flabby; has more of the characteristic Hirsch iron component. This seems more complex than the last bottle where the fruit was more primary. Excellent wine.

Popped and poured. Dark red; Big rich Pinot nose of red and blueberries. Rich and full on the palate with largely resolved tannins; drinking very well. This is very atypical for Hirsch as it is much more fruit driven and less about soil, especially iron, and spice. Note that the yield was < 0.5 tons/acre which likely accounts for the very ripe fruit. With some air more structure emerges, but this is still a much riper version than is typical and I don't believe will age as well as most vintages.

A shy, but evolving nose of tart red fruits, mushrooms, pine, and wet stones. Gains palate presence as its exposed to air. Tart cherries and cranberries in the mouth with a finish that follows this theme leaving a trace of minerals in its wake. It's a wine to appreciate for its subtleties. This would easily be lost in a tasting, but very enjoyable on its own this evening. Another Littorai that does not disappoint. Among my favorite producers.
I anticipate this pairing quite nicely with dinner - Roasted grouper with sweet corn, leek, and rock shrimp risotto and champagne citrus beurre blanc. Grabbed the Hank's Seafood cookbook last week when in Charleston, SC.

Tannins well under control and making for a beautifully balanced and slightly sweet medium bodied pinot. Well worth the wait, seems 5-6 years is a good bottle age for some of the better pinots. One of the best!
