If this pristinely-cellared bottle could talk, it would be saying "the reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated." Deep red/garnet and requiring at least two hours of aeration in decanter, it is a phoenix that has risen. Plenty of black fruit is laced with spice, earth, chocolate-covered cherries and graphite (on both the nose and palate). Full-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (13.5%) and with residual tannins that are proportionate to the fruit, it sails through the middle and finishes medium-to-long. Previously having shut down, this wine has now awakened. Well-cellared bottles should be just fine into the next decade. Drink now-2020.

Nice woody nose, got the mint that the other rater had mentioned, medium on the palate, but lacking something that should have been there with a wine at only 10 years old. Would try again, but probably past its peak.

Good balance and structure, but lacking in anything extraordinary. Nothing that really catches you or makes this memorable. Decanted for 2 hours with no change of opinion. Nice wine, but given the price point, would not buy it again.

Quite nice - very old world. Could pass for Bordeaux, except for a bit of mint that says Chile. Still very tightly wound, I would bet this is quite closed down. After a few hours of air, it opened up a bit, but I still think there is more potential than I saw. That said, for $32, there are better deals, IMHO.

Really enjoyed this bottle. Big nose and very fruity up front followed by a long, silky smooth finish. No rough edges whatsoever. Did I mention I really enjoyed this bottle?

Not so different from a Weinert wine, but lacks the fruit and body of those. Not bad at all, but rather woody.

Not bad, but disappointing, given its heritage. Still a bit thin, without the finish of a great cab. very drinkable, but was expecting more

Not quite as good as the Don Melchor, but a nice wine.
