Admittedly, I have a soft spot for Martinelli wines. One of the first Sonoma wineries I visited. Beautiful straw color. Pineapple, guava, tropical fruit. Excellent accompaniment to swordfish steaks off the grill on a gorgeous spring day.

Definitely shouting out, "I am from the Russian River." But, missing the forward, round, lulling around your cheeks delight that I come to associate with the Russian River.
I imagine if you were vineyard side, in the autumn, that this would be an entirely enjoyable experience. But in less pastoral circumstances, its jut an ordinary wine.
Notes of burnt butterscotch. Too much oak and sugar. And a bitterness on the finish that disappoints.

On its own, a bit disappointing. With food (paired with grilled halibut) it was much better. There was a hint of unpleasant bitterness on the finish which disappeared with the meal.

Excellent Chard. Probably would benefit from another year or two, but still tasting very good right now.

Very nice Chard. Opens up nicely in the glass about about 1/2 hour.
