In half bottle, without special preparation (unfortunately).
Very woody nose, vanilla, spices and black fruits.
On the palate, once the wood dissipates, the wine shows good potential with a very dense but well balanced mixture of spices and black fruits. It's still warm and woody like a Bordeaux drunk too early can be. Good balance paving the way for a warm yet tannic finish.
It is urgent to wait, but good Bordeaux.

Better than expected. Ripe, but decidedly balanced with some herbal notes. Mix of red fruits and flint. Quite steuctired but nicely balanced with freshness and fruit. I suspect this will age nicely. Tanninc quality is a bit coarse and blocky. Notnsure if this will soften or become an issue with time.

Cedar and tobacco lead off the perfume before you get to the spicy, cranberry, red currants and herbs. Bright, crisp, chewy, medium-bodied, classic, and crunchy, give this at least 5 or more years in the cellar before pulling a cork. The wine blends 45% Cabernet sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 10% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc.

En primeur tasting at Lords. One of the few wines where the 18 was clearly better than the 16 and one of the better wines of the evening. Good body and loads of soft tannins. Well balanced and not overpowered by alcohol or tannins. The last time I bought Chasse Spleen en primeur was the 1989 vintage and that was the best cru bourgeois I've ever had. Alc. 13.5%. I've bought some.

It was a little tight initially. After about two hours the cassis showed up. This wine has a lot of character. Wine for grown ups

The 2018 UGCB tasting Amsterdam 6/21/2021 (Amsterdam, Amstel Boathouse): Friendly in the start, lighter in weight than the top wines, firm tannins, still a juicy style, but I had expected a bit more.
