Intense bouquet, dark berry, strong peony, with hints of sweet pipe smoke... low tannin, long finish... initial tobacco notes with light raspeberry turning into juicy ripe blackberry and bing cherry finish.

A bit slow to open but a nicely crafted wine. Lighter bodied than I had expected with only the faintest notion of those famous prune or raisin notes. Overall I enjoyed this bottle but it wasn't especially memorable.

There are aromas of dried fruit that definitely point at an Amarone, but aside from raisin and smoke on the nose I also got hints of green pepper. Medium red-orange in colour. Raisin and hints of forest floor on the palate. Tannins are mild and smooth, and alcohol is clearly there but not hot. Long finish. Easily good for a few more years but I can never seem to cellar a bottle. Great value at Costco in Alberta at $41. Pair with good news or a cold winter Saturday night.

Happy hour by phone with friends. This is one of our go to yummy ‘special occasion’ wines. We had no occasion, like all of 2020, but no regrets about opening this lovely bottle.
Red fruit and plums, nice tannins. Nice long finish. A lovely complex wine.

Medium ruby, doesn't look like a 15% alc wine. On the nose it is intense, warm and sweet with smell of jammed fruits and sweet spice. On the palate it is big and fruity, with a tiny bit of salty and bitter taste, some tanin, rather smooth, medium finish.
Put in the fridge and tasted again the next afternoon, more red fruits came out, the saltiness and bitterness reduced, complexity remained, but smoother, tasted better.

A big wine obviously, but a lot fresher and more elegant than its alcoholic weight (15% ABV) would suggest, satiny, red cherries and berries, delicately balsamic and pleasantly autumnal, gentle tannins, good intensity and sneaky length. Lovely now, not for the very long term.

Doesn't drink like its 15% but after the half bottle, I knew it was 😀. This is exceptional. Not my usual choice, but really enjoyed it. Ripe fruit, figs and cherries mainly. A hint of chocolate. Surprisingly smooth, but bold wine not too heavy on the tannins.

Popped from a 375ml bottle. Overripe jammy dark fruit with some oaky spice on the nose. Medium to full bodied, supple and smooth, delivering jammy dark fruit with a spicy twist, decent acidity and gentle firm tannins. Quite delicious despite of the jammy character.

Unmistakably an Amarone. Delightful aromas on the nose. Medium tannins, subtle oak and well rounded fruit. Coffee. Black tea. Hints of chocolate. All well integrated. Not a huge Amarone fan, but have to admit that this beats the Brunello yesterday (Banfi, Brunello di Montalcino 2013).
This medium looking pale purple red showed very quick legs after being decanted for a couple of hours. To the nose this wine provided intense fruit notes with cranberry & cherry being the dominant fruits. This was a dryer wine to taste that provided a medium body & finish with medium tannins. It was interesting as this wine looked sweeter then it tasted. We had this wine as part of a 5 bottle blind taste test and really ended being a very pleasant wine.

Despite it’s youth in a perfect spot for drinking. Especially a great cherrry nose. Cherry, raisin, herbs on the palate. A long lingering finish. Similar style as the Masi Costasera Amerone. Commercial, smooth, always pleasing wine.

Amarone Tasting (Vintage Wines Ltd., San Diego, CA): “50% Corvina, 30% Rondinella, 15% Corvinone, & 5% Oseleta grown in 2 vyds located in the 5 key valleys in the Valpolicella Classico area: La Groletta, a S-facing hillside Vyd close to Lake Garda, & La Conca d’pro, a terraced Vyd which translates to ‘the golden shell’. After harvest the grapes are placed on small racks in a large grape-drying room known a a fruttaio, where they are dried by cool autumn & winter breezes until the following Feb. Over these mos the grapes lose about 50% of their weight, concentrating the level of natural sugar. After a fermentation period lasting 20 days, the wine is aged for 3 yrs in large, 35-hL, Slavonian oak casks, followed by 1 yr in bottle. 15% ABV, 5.58 g/L R.S., & 5.37 g/L T.A.”
N: Closed; RIPELY (I suspect) *attractive* berries; Intensity lurking
P: Med, poss MF, body; RNDISH entry with a NtICE, ALMOST swtish frt fairly quickly met by an astringent pucker which stays in contact with the init frt as it fairly seamlessly transitions into a very LONG, BALANCED finish with a potentially elegant, tangy/swtness to the dusty tannins. NEEDS through '22, then drinking through '26? My EXC, EXC+ eventually? 92 pts Suckling; [This vendor's $59.95 puts it towards the bottom of the TOP 1/2 of wine-searcher's listings.]

Big fruit, brooding, big, but not sweet fruit aromas like the Ripasso 2016. More nuanced palate, with caressing texture. Slavonian Oak (Slovenia/Croatia) is the key here, neutral. Honestly, Amarone never really lands right for me, but this example is sure one that I can get behind.

Même profile de saveurs.
Plus simple et moins long aussi.
Bien.
