In a great place now. Ripe plush juicy and enjoyable. Not built for aging and Not complex but very good for what it is. Didnt shift much after an hour. Still good under vacuvin day 2

Solid bdx, decanted for 3 hours. Herbal, earthy, forest floor, not much fruits, alc on the nose, but dissipated quickly. On the palate, balance. Nice wine, but very unremarkable.

Needs 8+ hours decant. Lovely notes of wood, bell pepper, and tart. Bit of anise on the nose. Nice finish, expect it to be a much longer finish after a few more years. Drink with smoky or salty dishes.

I followed this wine for a few hours after opening. It didn't really change much. This is Bordeaux through and through. Not a lot of fruits on the nose. I get freshly sawed pine tree, green forest, earthy, herbal. On the palate, everything is in line. Different, good, but not complex. I am confused about the high scores for this one.

Dark berry, graphite, cedar, mint, chocolate, and forest aromas are quite powerful and appealing. Theres alot of oak here but its very good quality and the fruit handles it well. Good density, mouthcoating fruit with savory acids give this wine high drinkability despite being so young. There seems to be some press wine here which adds some structure for aging.

Bought on Nick's recommendation, albeit with some initial trepidation as I've never enjoyed the Clos du Marquis wines that much in the past. But this is fantastic and hits well above the price point - lots of richness and intensity to the fruit without ever feeling spoofy or goopy, and the 14.5% alcohol remains in check throughout. Definitely should get more, though I'm now curious to try the '16 as well.

Dark purple, super young, easily another 20+ years until prime. Lead shavings, forest floor, cigar box, dark fruits, balanced nose- though still very tight (pop and pour). Super balanced wine on the palate, we’ll rounded, great mouthfeel, dark fruit, well integrated oak, incredible value at ~$70.

Opened last night. It needed the air, and is much more open tonight. Inky, saturated purple- black, completely opaque, with a bright violet rim. Nose has really opened on this to reveal lavender, flowers, and gorgeous, gorgeous fruit. Wild berries abound. Big and rich in the mouth--I mean REALLY rich and big, with thick fruit, a tannic wall, and huge fruit lurking. Still needs more time to really show its best, but even now its potential is well-apparent. Monster wine that grabs all your attention. This has a long and beautiful future ahead. Wow. 5-14-17-9: 95/100. H says 94.

Decanted for two hours. Black cherries, blueberries, saffron, cedar, flower shop and granite. The body is full and the finish will not quit. The tannins are very nicely polished, and this has layer upon layer of dark fruit. One of the best Clos du Marquis ever - as this is not a second wine, and a clos of its own. Designed for the cellar. Roughly two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon and a third Merlot, with a little Cabernet Franc. Brilliant. Drink 2027 -.

Comes alive from PnP and keeps on changing over the hours and days. Followed this bottle for nearly a week and its sweet spot was around day 3. The animal and slightly aromatic character of St Julien came forward day 2 and there was no lack of self confidence. I compared this to a Reserver Comtesse and d'Armailhacq (same vintage) and I regarded this wine as the most complex and balanced of the three. Real character. Towards the end the wine developed a little too much of that sauvage character, almost like a plate of grilled lamb with herbs. Glad I have some more bottles.

The smoky nose gets even better with all that ripe crème de cassis, blackberry, forest floor, cigar box and sweet cherry in the perfume. Lush, round and loaded with sweet, ripe, juicy red fruits, the wine delivers length, freshness and vibrancy, along with supple tannins in the finish. With bottle age, this could get even better. The wine was made from blending 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc, 14.5% ABV.

Crème de cassis, spice, forest floor and tobacco notes show up with ease. Medium/full-bodied, spicy and fresh, this wine is precociously ripe and vibrant with juicy fruit on the nose and mouth. Even with the 14.5% alcohol, there is no heat, jam or over-ripeness. Everything is sweet and lively. Clearly, this is the best vintage for Clos du Marquis and its definitely Classified Growth in quality. The wine was made from blending 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. 92-94 Pts

At a trade tasting with Potensac, Nenin & Leoville las Cases, rich powerful sexy nose, lighter in the mouth vs Nenin & Potensac, very young
