  • Pretty deep purple color. Notes of spices, some tobacco leaf, black berries, also some red berries, licorice, nougat, also some violets. It‘s medium-full bodied, with medium-high acidity and medium tannin adding some structure. Overall, a very fresh wine, which I was surprised about. Good length. A nice, fresh and balanced wine that will go with plenty of different food.
    I haven‘t had Schwarz Rot in a while, as I often found the wines a little heavy, over-extracted and lacking varietal character in the past. This is clearly better and more interesting than most of the „older“ vintages I had. Funny thing is that they are rated lower now than back then...
