A blend of Merlot, Cab Sauvignon and Malbec. Deep red garnet in color. Aromas while decanting of dark cherries and raspberries with touch of tobacco and leather. On the palate, acceptable red fruit flavor but slightly acidic. While not a bad wine, I had greater expectations …. Maybe a slightly tainted bottle.

I opened 1/2 hour before tasting and it was about an 89 or 90 when I did taste. Within ten minutes, it wasn’t good and got worse. Do not air and take the air out with a sucker type device. Reidel Bordeaux/Cab glass.

14.5 ABV. Moderate tannins. I can imagine some strawberry but cloves and something vaguely like shoe polish was more prominent. It did soften up after about 30 minutes in the glass. I was hoping to enjoy this but didn't.

A: deep ruby N: med intensity, simple, earthy, flint, wet stone, bramble P: med- intensity, clove, oak notes, watered down plum, gravel, wet stone. med+ acid, high alcohol, med+ tannin, med+ body, short finish.
Unbalanced with the acidity on the weak fruit notes, lacking any real body or backbone. Agree with most of the other reviews. Although it is cheap for $7, not really worth the effort of buying and drinking. 83- pt

Purple colored and earthy mushroom nose. Taste has good acid and tannins have a dusty long finish. Other odd tastes that seem oak related but solid enough wine but for $22 I was hoping to get a better integrated wine.

Very strong graphite on nose and taste. I was hoping for more for a WS 91 pointer. Not sure who rates it. Maybe as one reviewer mentioned that it needs to age more.
I wanted to like this because to the WS review and price point,, but I don't. Another reviewer commented, $7 @ costco, don't need to say anything else.

Blend is 80% Merlot; 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon & 5% Malbec (nothing esoteric) from a small, but long-time producer with his own acreage (Merlot dominant Right Bank). The number of poor CT reviews leads me to think a batch of this may have been tainted and may help account for the discounted prices; wine has several positive reviews and was originally imported @ $30-40 range. It may be good IF you happen to get a good bottle.

The wine I wanted to like. $7 bucks at Costco some initial good flavors that just seemed to get worse as I decanted, filtered, pumped down and left overnight. Saw NFURLONG’s rating on day two. Yeah pretty close.

Decanted 2 hours. Deep opaque purple. Nose is dusty, barnyard, dark plum, black cherry, graphite, and tar. Heavy bodied, medium-high acidity, well integrated tannins. Palate is earthy and has a very dark fruit profile of plums, currants, and blackberries. Finish is moderate granite and graphite filled with hints of herbs and black pepper.
For the $6-7 Costco Bordeaux price point, this one is one of the better ones we have bought.

Medium ruby in the glass. This wine definitely needs some air, so don't be too quick to judge it! Zingy raspberry, ripe red plum, clove, and cocoa on the nose. More red and black fruit on the palate with attractive, fertile earthy notes, medium acidity, medium body, and well integrated tannins.

dark ruby color; mossy shale stone on the nose with a bit of mouldy black fruit; acids dominate a weak black raspberry spine. Unimpressed. Will pass on this one.

Nose: sweet and mild, raspberries, maybe hint of pepper/barrel spice. Uneventful overall. Palate: Tart, woody and tannic on first sip and overly sour/tart on the finish. However, with time/decant, it opened up and softened quite a bit. I would definitely decant this wine, and perhaps hold it a few years (I know, surprising for a $7 wine that already has a few years under its belt). In the end, I've purchased better cheap (<$10) Bordeaux at Costco that drinks well now, e.g. Bel Ormeau Bois Vert, Château Le Grand Moulin, etc

Medium purple color with plum edge. Nose of sour cherry, violets and pencil lead. Plum and dark fruit on the palate with an astringent finish of earth, pencil and a hint of oak. Easy tannins and medium length finish. Solid wine, but not exciting.

Paired with cardamom salmon, squash and kale salad and tots.. Nice acidic balance and soft finish. An old friend over for a brisk autumn weeknight dinner on the porch around the fire.

Mineral nose upon opening w/fair legs. Nose did not present the typical Bordeaux profile. Flavor of ripe cherries w/moderate to light finish. An acceptable daily drinker especially at price point.

The taste and resulting wafting through my olfactory took me right back to the frequent tours I took in the 1980s of the historic Hezekiah Alexander Homesite that concluded in the hard packed dirt floor basement (stone structure in the style of the Pennsylvania Dutch finished in 1774 in Charlotte, NC). Truly, it was like I time warped back. I did not get any of the complexity that one famous reviewer ascribed to this wine. However, I can say without a doubt that it had improved noticeably by the second day, and it was not unpleasant. So, if you are going to drink this wine now, it needs airing out (much like that basement). That said, maybe I just drank it way too soon and a couple of years from now it will be amazing.
