We bought this wine in 2022 at a visit to Domaine Tempier so it was hard to open - wanted to hold onto the treasure lol! Amazing wine - decanted for several hours but stole a sip immediately upon opening as well. Incredible acidity, minerality and silky tannins. So many layered notes over the course of the evening.

Phenomenal with Prime Rib Roast. 3hr decant and wine really benefitted from this. beautiful dark fruit, plum and mineral finish. 2017 was a very good year, last bottle sadly, on to the 2018s!!

No detailed notes. Decanted about 1 hour. Virtually opaque purple-garnet color. Classic nose of tar, garrique, and intense plummy fruit. Much more elegant on the palate than anticipated with ample but not overripe fruit, soft tannins, and good acidity. There was no sense of heat from the alcohol. All in a a lovely Bandol.

Opened and decanted an hour ahead of grilled BBQ pork cutlets and mixed salad. Brooding, dark purple-crimson color. The nose brings a heavy load of forest floor, musty funk, and garrigue with scattered red fruit and purple flower notes. The palate is medium-full, square, supple, and textured, bringing a lovely core of deep blueberries, tart huckleberries, chocolate cherries, and juicy plums mixed with wood smoke, tar, pipe tobacco, and dried leather. The finish is refined and smooth. This is the same wine as previous vintages but definitely has a bounce in its step for 2017 (Lulu?). If I were to taste blind I would have pegged this as a Cornas Syrah. Will get better, so drink 2024-2034. Technical score: 93. Enjoyment score: 93.

Tasted at le Willi’s Wine Bar. I’m not sure how long this bottle has been open, but long enough. Generous mourvedre fruit on the bose: blackberry, boysenberry, plum, but balanced by the gravely structure. Obviously the tannins ate prominent, but with the air this wine is already delicious.

Needed three hours of decant to blossom. Very elegant but powerful at the same time. The extraction is masterfully balanced. Mourvedre fruit with some smoke and underwood. Very long finish. Slight tertiary notes coming through but mainly fruity. Good to drink now but will for sure improve over the next decade. Mext bottle in five years.

Tempier has more bottle variation than any other producer I love. This was another wrong-headed one, and the flaw was a new one to me. First few sips were good and complex, but the finish was increasingly sour, then bitter, and an hour later, the wine tasted kind of cooked - which is bizarre, as I bought it on release. But not 100% like being cooked - also shrill. I dunno - weird one.

Dark ruby. Nice complexity on the nose for the age and level, with intriguing earthy and sauvage elements complementing the dark fruit and. The palate is simpler at this stage, bit the fruit expression is clear and elegant, almost silky in texture and very fresh. As others have pointed out, there is not a big wall of tannins or tons of concentration here. But I would expect this to develop nicely on its balance and to drink well for quite some time. Not every wine needs to cellar for decades to reach a nice stage of maturity, and this is probably one of them. Start checking back in at about age 8-10 I suspect.

No oak influence (old oak: no flavours, for tertiary characteristics/to soften tannins). On the palate is more spicy (liquorice, pepper), VA is covered and tobacco, meaty is more evident. Dry, med acidity. Mec+ tannins, chalky, grainy. 14,5% abv. Long. Outstanding.

I'm clearly an outlier here. I find this wine pleasant, but lightweight and boring. If you told me that this was a $15 monastrell from a region in Spain I've never heard of, I'd think that makes total sense. Light, almost spritzy, flavors of blackberry and game. Weak tannins. The idea of decanting this or aging it for decades seems preposterous.

Medium intensity, ruby. Red fruits (quite tart), cassis, hint of garrigue, earthy/cigar box, cassis the dominant flavour with some leather on the pallet. Medium body with good balance, slightly grippy but not overly so, quite high acid/sharp that was not evident so much on day 2. Alcohol quite strong on day 1 but dry. Imagine will be very good. Very young for a top bandol

Medium Ruby to Purple in the glass. Medium intense aromas of fennel, cherry, and a distinct "vegetal" note mingle with some rustic gaminess in the background. The gamey and vegetal note combined almost smells like fresh leather. Structurally, the wine is dry, high acid, medium tannin, light to medium bodied, and high alcohol. Medium intense flavors of tart (almost underripe) cherries and olives mingle with a coffee rubbed smoked meat flavor in the background. Even after a 1 hour decant, I likely drank this wine too young! Still very good, though.

Color is dark/ruby red. Tannins are high. Full bodied and silky. Complex.
The nose: Cigar box, smoke, oak, mint, leaves at spring.
The palate: Blackberry, blackcurrant, a little fresh leather, a oaky feeling mixed with semi-dark chocolate.
A good experience, but it is way to young now. You should wait at least 5 years before popping the cork. It is in balance, but it's also very tight.
I don't get why some people in here has set the drinkability to 2030 at the latest. In my opinion, you could pop the last bottle 15-20 years after the vintage. This is quality.

Painfully young. Took a few hours to get going but when it did, it was quite something. Light to medium body. Crunchy dark cherries with licorice, herbs and dark chocolate. Finishes with tannins that turn velvety with a lot of air.

Bright ruby core, lighter edge. Pretty strident fennel that softened to easier green tones and allowed the tart red fruit to come through on the nose. Medium weight, a bit of effervescence. Crisp, tangy red fruit, licorice, crushed herbs. Buoyant with lively acidity and moderate tannin. Great with roast chicken. Still a lot of structure to carry it forward.

Clear ruby. Ripe blackberry, licorice, and herb in a medium bodied package. Bright and easy to drink, but after an hour in the decanter, it began to close down. Wonderful juice and an appropriate tribute to Lulu Peyraud's 100th birthday.

Short decant
The wine is clear and dark purple in colour
There is very small amount of sediment in the bottle.
On the nose: Fresh red fruit, raspberry, tart cherry, candied apple, fruit forward, slight alcohol - hot
On the palate: Raspberry, cherry, caramelised sugar, later, some pencil shavings, smoke
The body is medium, full.
The wine has a crisp texture.
The wine finishes V-long.
The wine has medium acidity.
The wine has medium tannins.
Conclusion
Just about in its drinking window, lovely wine, not overly sweet, restrained power and a great expression of Mouvedre.

Mangler ikke fruktkons i munn, tanninene er snille og har et forsiktig grep. Stor drikkeglede.
