Charleston VII; 11/2/2022-11/6/2022 (Charleston, SC (various locations)): Not easy to be on the heels of a '76 Krug and yet this wine held its own quite well. The best word is interesting. Not flavors you expect in a champagne and yet they work. Acorn. Or rose hips. Very herbal style. Lots going on and all interesting and yet still light on its feet. Very enjoyable.

Brought to brunch to work across the meal and it did a nice job from egg dishes through to duck hash. It's one of those 'interesting' champagnes. Evolves quite a bit in the glass. Tastes almost slightly oxidized to start. Still young and lots of vibrancy here. I like it although it's definitely for the more contemplative mood.

Niche Niche 8/20: Do you hate the enamel on your teeth? Well, this is the product for you! Shrieking piercing acidity to the point where I'm not sure I can identify anything else about it. I love acidity far more than the average wine drinker, but there's a limit - this was borderline undrinkable with an odd magnesium thing on the finish. Most of it was dumped into the ice bucket.

Think about it as a very well preserved treasureh. Like you're a monk in a remote part of the earth. You get things, but only because you're that disconnected to the world and yet you bond with...
It starts on mango and honeydew, bit of yeast so you would expect something very bold and exuberant but it's not. The contrary. This is evanescent, diaphane, bright. Simple yet... That brings you to another level of consciousness. Citrusy and Uber mineral. Crazy champagne, less 'vin naturel' than Garennes but it's still in his own league too.
PS: Yes I was drunk typing that...

Same as it ever was. Still very young, needs air, but unravels nicely. Hold if you have it, imo.
