Excellent Syrah with blackberries and smoked meat on the nose. Full-throttle fruit with just enough earth and pepper to back it up. Still youthful but hard to resist at the moment. I think I still prefer the Torrin style for Syrah but this is delicious and my wife kept bogarting the bottle. I have the 8, 9, and 10 and am curious to see how those compare.

Pop and pour as the smoked beef ribs were ready early. Very dark inky purple in color. Dark fruits and blueberry on the nose and palate. Well integrated tannins with a long finish. Throwing very fine sediment. Ages of life ahead and I think this will likely improve over a deep sleep.

Absolutely stunning. Nose of dark pitted fruit, blackberries, and boysenberries. A towering blend of more dark fruit, some vanilla, and velvety tannins. Skyscraper finish. What an amazing wine.

I fear I have drank this wine too young, even tk the last sip 36 hours after opening I could sense it was still not showing as it could. Nonetheless a truly gargantuan expression of the Syrah varietal. Huge blueberry and pepper. At times overpoweringly alcoholic, others incredibly balanced. If you have it, hold a few more years

Stop me if you’ve heard this before …. This is winemaking at its finest, provided you believe California should produce gutsy, pay-attention red wines. However, this is in a league of its own with the balance it maintains. Focused and layered. Gobs of bacon fat, minerals, spice and depth. Wow. I’m guessing there was significant stem inclusion. Decanted for three hours and served at cellar temperature, this just sings out of the decanter. Will last another decade, easily. Drink now to 2035. Outstanding.

THIS was the first of my three and of course hard to believe the great ratings, but no longer. this is magnificent and loved by all my guests. I learned of the winery by reading Saxum notes from others so a thank you to Saxum. check out Seduire. i will buy every bottle Andremily offers me in their club. it is what wine should be. in balance, smooth, no aftertaste, and just GREAT
2017 can be a tough year, but this wine opened up after two hours and stayed full bodied, red and black fruit, strawberry, concord grape, spice and eucalyptus. Never lists it’s punch and had a smooth finish. Nice bottle to open now. I don’t believe it will get better as it is at its best at this time.

This is my first Andremily Syrah and it was a hot mess. The 15.5% alcohol that is listed on the bottle tastes closer to 20%. The government warning about pregnant women not drinking this should also mention not consuming this near an open flame.
While the EABA was not in my wheelhouse, this is just flat out bad. Orin Swift thought this was too over the top. I'm not regretting my decision to drop off this list at all.

To say this wine is outstanding, full throttle and incredibly balanced would be restating my tasting notes on every Andremily I’ve ever tasted. I’ll suffice to say these wines have to be tasted to be believed. Still young. Drink this one 2024 to 2033. Outstanding.

Not sure why I was so enthralled with this the first time I tried it. Tonight, we paired with Texas barbecue, which is a perfect complement, but had an Alban Reva among other wines to compare/contrast. The Alban, for me, outshone this by a country mile due to its leaner, more intellectual pleasure. This in comparison veered too far into extracted jam. If you're enjoying this, avoid anything alongside it that is classical or Old World. Keep it hedonistic.

Drinking great -I’m finding that central coast 2017s are super-accessible and this fits the pattern. Lots of fresh oak as is the house style, but balanced with the fruit and open for business.

Decanted 3 hours. Extremely rich and extracted, flavors of black fruit, graphite, tar, oak and scorched earth. A huge wine that will absolutely benefit from additional bottle age. Drink 2025+.

Outstanding. Already felt the bouquet amazing when I opened the wine. Well balanced, no heat, explosion of complexity: cherries, red berries, hints of cedar wood. All well integrated and drinks easily now. Very long finish. My favorite winemaker.

Might be my favorite Syrah ever. And this would rate 100 if I were still rating wines. Such refinement in such a big — huge? — wine. Hits every zone in the nose and on the tongue. Grilled beef, ripe plums, cinnamon, necterine, apricot, cocoa nibs, and espresso. Some gentle oak in the background. Hillside herbs dance in and out. Full bodied, yet elegant enough to serve with a meal. It skates along the knife’s edge. How does Jim Binns do it? Drink now to 2033. Outstanding!

Great wine. Wasn't sure what to expect. Dark fruits, good body, present but soft tannins. One of the the best Syrahs, I have had in years. Great finish. Have 2 bottles left. One of the best wine values out there.

3hr decant. Big nose of black cherry, plum, bell pepper. Nose jumps out of the glass. Bold fruit, but great balance with a nice hit of acidity on the finish. Full bodied, long finish. Young, but exciting. Wish I had bought more than a few bottles.

Made in a very ripe style, which I do not prefer. That being said, this is an extremely high quality and complex wine. If you like big bold syrah like SQN, this is right up your alley. Relatively approachable now with a 5+ hour decant.

Decanted for two hours then consumed over the next three. It was the ratings of those before me which pressured me to try this youngster. I am in obvious agreement. Incredibly smooth/velvety texture, red and blue fruits, exotic spices, salty minerality, perfect balance with no hard edges anywhere. This was a pop and pour but was consumed from a decanter over 3 hours. It did get better but was amazing from the get-go, so no reason to be scared to open one. Very new world style, in between SQN and Saxum IMO.

Huckleberry, blueberry, blackberry pie, licorice, creosote, graphite, campfire, and wet slate. A textural temptress, with a silky smooth front end. Holds a ripe and chewy mid-entry drop that melts its saturated purple berry core around the palate. Finishes with an uptick in mineral vs slight heat (not hot, but a hair clipped). Still, the essence of gushing fruit lingers.
A bitter-sweet experience here (literally and figuratively). A lot of ripe fruit. At times, a sweet (vanillin) element surfaced, mostly on the initial wave of flavor expansion. The back end then flanked the finish with a faint bitter element. Nothing to get too torqued-up about, but noticeable. Blame youth for now, so give this 2-3 years to round-out its overall execution.
Currently, the 2017 Mourvèdre sibling holds more interest for me. The Mourvèdre shows more unique complexity and layered potential. This No. 6 Syrah shows more monolithic hyper-modernism in its current state. It’s certainly a yummy chew toy that any Labrador puppy would slather over, but true nuance has yet to fully develop. 94-95+ points for now, with certain upside with some relatively short-term cellaring.
UPDATE: Followed over a few days. Improved with air exposure. Some of the sweetness subsided. Smoothed-out in the finish as well. A couple/three years in bottle should do this well.

Opened in the bottle 3 plus hours. Stylistically and quality wise these wines are incredibly consistent each year. Deep black color with faint purple rim. Texturally silky/smooth with some heat lingering on the gums. Huge amounts of smokey black fruit dominate with touches of bacon fat, black pepper, vanilla and violets. Not the freshest wine out there but just great with red meat. Drink at release or wait 5 plus years as I’ve found the middle ground is not great.

There’s some toasty oak during the elaborate finish, and such a polished, velvety, well-proportioned frame. A full body; I find this to be even more approachable than the neoclassic ‘16.
